Fever vs. Sun WNBA Odds and Prediction: Caitlin Clark’s Season Debut
All eyes will be on the highly anticipated appearance of rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, who joins the Fever for her WNBA debut.
Despite limited preseason action, Clark’s impact is already felt, with a majority of the Fever’s games airing nationally or streaming.
The Fever face off against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. ET, live on ESPN2 and streaming on ESPN+ and, for the first time ever, Disney+.
Fever vs. Sun WNBA Betting Odds
In what promises to be an exciting, as well as heavily watched matchup, the Connecticut Sun enter as 5.5-point favourites.
Caitlin Clark’s Debut
Clark saw significant playing time in Indiana’s two preseason games, logging an average of 30 minutes on the court. Despite some ups and downs, with a close loss to the Dallas Stars and a narrow win over the Atlanta Dream, she showed glimpses of what she can bring to her team.
Her shooting performance was decent but not outstanding, hitting 10 of 27 field goals (37 percent) and seven of 22 from beyond the arc. However, she still managed to contribute effectively, averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.
As of this writing, Clark is a huge favourite to win the Rookie of the Year, and +1000 to win the WNBA regular season MVP.
Indiana Fever
Indiana is eager for redemption after being swept by the Sun in last year’s series, with three of the losses coming by a margin of at least 9 points.
However, the young Fever squad, fueled by Clark’s arrival, is determined to turn the tide and establish themselves as contenders in the league this year. The squad is not just hoping for a spectacular rookie season from Clark, but major growth from 2023 No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith.
Looking ahead, the Fever aim to build on their 13-27 record from last season, which marked an improvement from previous years. Yet, facing the formidable Connecticut Sun presents a tough challenge.
Connecticut Sun
Led by the dynamic duo of DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas, the Sun are the real deal, having secured a solid third-place finish last season.
Indiana has struggled in Connecticut, losing in eight of their recent matchups.
The Sun, with their strong lineup, may prove to be too much for Indiana to handle at this stage. These two clubs will play against each other again on the 20th of May.
