It all comes down to No. 1 against No. 2 in the Wimbledon men’s singles final. Top two seeds Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev successfully played their way into championship Sunday, mostly without trouble the entire fortnight, and they were especially dominant in their respective semifinal matches.

The result is a 15th career meeting between these two rivals. It is their first at the All-England Club and also their first at any grass-court tournament on the ATP Tour.

Let’s break down the odds for the Wimbledon men’s final and discuss the best bets to make.

Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev best bet: Zverev +5.5 games (-138)

There is no denying that Sinner is dominating the head-to-head series (he leads it 10-4), but Zverev is currently playing the best tennis of his career. The German, who for many years he had been dubbed as the best player to have never won a major, finally got the monkey off his back by triumphing at the French Open last month. Unsurprisingly, that success seems to have relieved him of pressure – allowing him to play more freely and with much more conviction.

The results are clear as day at the All-England Club, where Zverev – unlike Sinner – did not get pushed to five sets in any of his first six matches. The 29-year-old was especially impressive in the last two rounds, erasing both Taylor Fritz and Arthur Fery in lightning-quick straight sets. As such, he heads into the final well rested and brimming with confidence. Although Sinner destroyed Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals, the Italian needed five sets to survive Miomir Kecmanovic in round one, won only four more games than Nuno Borges in round one and was extended to a tiebreaker by both Shintaro Mochizuki and Jan-Lennard Struff. Sinner is playing well, but he has not been in consistently dominant form this fortnight.

Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev prediction: Over 38.5 games (-116)

This play correlates nicely with Zverev covering the game spread, as it is safe to assume that the match won’t be a short one if the underdog wins. To say that Sinner getting blown out is unlikely would be a gross understatement. If Zverev covers, it almost certainly means that it is a competitive and relatively long contest.

Sinner’s rout of Djokovic notwithstanding, opponents have been competitive more often than not during this tournament. And for all of the Serb’s accomplishments throughout his illustrious career, a 29-year-old Zverev is much more dangerous than a 39-year-old Djokovic – especially when you have to deal with Zverev’s massive serve on grass. Don’t expect this to be a walk in the park for Sinner.

Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev prediction: Under 4.5 service breaks (+100)

Service breaks will almost certainly be few and far between on Sunday. Sinner has been broken just six times through six Wimbledon matches, including only once in the last three. Djokovic generated a grand total of one break point on Friday. Even more importantly, the world No. 1 has played an unbelievable six consecutive matches in their entirety against Zverev without losing his serve a single time.

Meanwhile, Zverev has been broken only five times in his six outings at the All-England Club. Over his last three matches, opponents are 2-for-13 on break-point conversions against the world No. 3. It should also be noted that Zverev is serving at an absurd 74 percent during this event. If he continues to put in that many first serves, not even a player of Sinner’s caliber is going to have many looks at breaking.
