England vs. Switzerland: Euro 2024 Quarterfinal Odds, Prediction

England barely survived Slovakia in the Round of 16, scoring two goals after the 90th minute in a 2-1 victory. Switzerland had a much more convincing win against Italy, ousting the defending champions 2-0.

England is a +120 favourite to win in regular time on the Euro odds, while Switzerland is +275 and a draw at the end of regular time is +195.

England vs. Switzerland Betting Odds

These teams have a long history against each other which has been dominated by England. In 31 all-time meetings, the Three Lions have 22 wins, while the Swiss have three wins and six matches have ended in a draw.

Ranked No. 5 in the world, England has never won the European Championship, although they were runners-up last tournament. The 19th ranked Swiss have advanced to the quarterfinals for the second straight tournament, but they’ve never reached the semis.

England remain the tournament favourites at +350 on the Euros futures board, while Switzerland is +1400. The favoured final features England vs. Spain at +600, followed by England vs. France at +650.

Harry Kane, who has two goals, has the second-shortest odds to be the top goalscorer of the tournament at +500. Jude Bellingham, who also has two goals, has the second-shortest odds to be named Player of the Tournament at +700. Kane is a +160 anytime goalscorer against Switzerland, while Bellingham is +360.

England

English fans have not been happy with the team’s performance in this tournament and trailing Slovakia in penalty time did not help. Thanks to the late heroics of Bellingham and Kane, the Three Lions escaped into the quarterfinal, but serious questions remain about what is wrong with England. Neither of England’s wins at Euro 2024 have been overly impressive and there’s no clear solution for why this team is struggling to gel.

England will have to do without Marc Guehi in the quarterfinal. The Crystal Palace centre-back picked up a yellow card in the Round of 16 that rules him out of the match and he also suffered a shoulder injury. Luke Shaw returned to full training before the knockout round, but he has yet to play any minutes in the tournament and he won’t be inserted into the starting XI.

Switzerland

The Swiss have turned heads in this tournament, particularly in the last two matches with a 1-1 draw against powerhouse Germany and a 2-0 win against defending champion Italy. Switzerland is making a great case to be the dark horse pick of this tournament as they are now unbeaten in eight straight competitive matches and they’ve lost just once in 18 since the 2022 World Cup.

Midfielder Granit Xhaka is expected to be ready for the match after suffering a minor adductor injury. That leaves a lot of possibilities for manager Murat Yakin as he should have a fully healthy squad. Silvan Widmer is eligible to return following a one-game suspension after Dan Ndoye impressed in Widmer’s place. Widmer will likely return his usual right wing-back position, so Ndoye could be moved to the front three.
