England vs. Germany Betting Odds
This match is nearly a pick’em, with England at +151 to win, Germany at +153 and a draw at +226 on the soccer odds. Under 2.5 goals is favoured at -143 and the O2.5 is +104. England is -132 on ‘draw no bet’ with Germany at -104. The captain of England, Harry Kane, is the favoured anytime scorer at +145. The favoured exact score is a 1-1 draw, which would obviously lead to extra time and possibly penalties.
England
After England’s terrific game against the Czech Republic, they have decided to make some changes to the starting lineup. Bukayo Saka ended up surprisingly taking the field in that match but played fantastic and he is now being rewarded with a spot in the starting lineup against Germany. Phil Foden is also expected to retake his starting spot after a sluggish game from Jack Grealish. As for the rest of the lineup, there isn’t many other changes expected to be made, which is probably good news for them.
England hasn’t gone against Germany in a super competitive game since 2010, though they have met up four other times in friendlies with both teams taking two games. This squad has a very hard-working midfield along with tough defenders that make it hard to score. As a matter of fact, they have recorded clean sheets in three straight games heading up to this point. If they want to continue that stretch, they will have to keep level heads and avoid making simple mistakes. Germany is clearly struggling but this is still a very talented team that can turn it on at any point.
Germany
This German team will be without two players in their rotation with both Lukas Klostermann and Jonas Hofmann ruled out due to injuries. They also decided to take a chance on Leroy Sane in their last game, though he ended up making far too many poor decisions and truthfully didn’t have much of an impact. That performance is likely to get him removed from the starting lineup but they may end up giving him a second chance as a sub.
Germany hasn’t been the traditional powerhouse that we’re used to seeing…at least yet. They have struggled with decision-making and finishing, which doesn’t bode well for the against such a strong defensive team like England. There is no way they will get the number of chances that they had against both Hungary and Portugal, decreasing their room for error drastically. This team lost 1-0 to France, pounded Portugal 4-2 but came away with a 2-2 draw against Hungary. They were trailing and needed a goal in the 84th minute to tie it up. We can see this team’s Jekyll and Hyde: if they perform like they did against France or Hungary, they’re out. If they show up like they did against Portugal, they’ll have a good shot of moving on.
