Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC MLS Odds, preview and prediction

One of Saturday’s anticipated MLS matchups features two teams in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Fire and Toronto FC, scrapping for points. Toronto’s hopes of making the MLS playoffs this season are null, but the Fire just secured a playoff spot for the first time in eight years.

A win for Toronto tonight will help them control a 12th-place finish in the East, although they’ve struggled to finish games and continue to drop points with consecutive ties. Chicago will be riding high after clinching a fresh playoff spot, but as we always know, anything can happen on the pitch. Check out my picks for the Chicago vs Toronto MLS matchup at  8:30 pm ET as we close out the regular season before the playoffs begin on October 18.

Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC MLS Odds and Betting Trends

The two Eastern sides have had a very competitive head-to-head record dating back to 2007, with the Fire standing just barely beating out Toronto’s 15 wins with 16 to date. While they’ve drawn 13 times throughout history, the Fire have not lost any of their last six matches to Toronto, and came out victorious 2-1 the last time they met in March 2025.

For this game, Chicago enters as huge favourites on the MLS odds board at -200, while Toronto FC is a prominent underdog, priced at +550 to win. A tie seems likely to me, but odds say otherwise, priced at +320.

Toronto FC

Toronto FC truly has nothing to lose at this point in the season and can play without worry of losing a spot in the playoffs or other tournaments. One particular stat that stands out among any MLS team is that in their last seven matches, Toronto has drawn all of them, with six of those seven scorelines concluding 1-1. Their most recent match against Inter Miami was a decent 1-1 result considering the Herons’ form. Theo Corbeanu still stands out as the team’s only true goal scorer, priced to score anytime at +350, with just six goals to his name this season.

Chicago Fire

Chicago still has a postseason to look after since clinching their spot in the MLS Playoffs at eighth place with 51 points following an impressive 5-3 victory over Inter Miami. They are currently on a three-game winning streak to finish out September, starting with a 3-0 over Minnesota on the 20th, before beating the Columbus Crew 2-0 on the 27th.

Hugo Cuypers has performed incredibly this season despite the Fire’s struggles, scoring 17 goals (two assists) in his 31 matches, with his last goal helping achieve a 2-0 result over the Crew. He’s set to score anytime at -110.

MLS Prediction: Who Will Win Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC?

I am on the fence about a Chicago Fire win tonight, but they are at Soldier’s Field in Chicago as clear favorites at -200.  There’s a decent +320 payout for a draw tonight, as Toronto has gone seven straight with draws against opponents and has nothing to lose.

The Fire may also be resting important personnel, as this isn’t a must-win game for them. If it’s not a 1-0 victory for the Fire tonight, it’s a 1-1 draw once again, and while I do think Under 2.5 goals (+135 ) is to come out of this game, I’m sure Toronto will cover the +1.5 spread at -175.
