As of this writing, Canada is favored to get a win here, priced at +106. A $25 dollar bet on the Canadian side would win $51.50. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a draw happen between these two evenly matched teams, which is why it’s priced at +212.
Canada
Canada is headed to Paris on Monday to play the 9th ranked Swedish team, who just suffered a loss at the hands of the United States. Canada’s 2-1 loss to the Netherlands was sweetened slightly by a beautiful goal courtesy of team captain Christine Sinclair. Her goal at the 60th minute of the match tied the game up at 1-1 and put her just three goals away from passing Abby Wambach as the world leader in goals scored at 184. Sinclair acknowledged that her team needs to sharpen up as the competition gets more challenging.
“I just think this game was a step-up in level from the first two games and a little bit of a wake-up call for us,” she said. “It just took us a little bit to get into the game and that can’t happen against the best teams in the world.”
The 36-year-old veteran became one of only two players to score in five World Cups, alongside Brazil’s Marta, with her 182nd goal.
Sweden

The United States women’s national team beat No. 9 ranked Sweden in their last group stage match of the this Women’s World Cup, with a final score of 2-0. Megan Rapinoe got the first one for the Americans, and in the second half, an impossibly tough-angled shot by Tobin Heath went into the net. The play was reviewed and was then called an own goal, since it was touched by Sweden’s Jonna Andersson.
Canada may have fantastic defense, but it showed it’s weakness on Thursday and Sweden’s offensive firepower could take advantage. The Canadians will need to watch out for Kosovare Asllani, who has 34 goals in her international career and got a goal in both of the first games played in this tournament.
Historically, Canada has struggled against Sweden, going 5-12-3 all-time. That said, a much more recent history tells a different story. Canada is 3-2-3 against the Swedes in their last 8 matches, and they tied 0-0 in their last meeting in March.
