Jonathan David headlines Canada Soccer’s roster for upcoming friendlies
Jonathan David headlines the 26-man roster for Canada’s upcoming international window.
The Canadian men’s national soccer team is set to host Tunisia and Iceland in two friendlies at BMO Field in Toronto next week.
“There’s a real excitement in this group right now and playing at home in Canada is something the players never take for granted,” Canada manager Jesse Marsch said in a statement. “Our fans have been incredible, and we’re calling on them to come out, fill BMO Field, and be part of what we’re building as we head towards the World Cup.”
David, who has five goals in 28 Serie A matches for Juventus this season, is the most prominent name on the roster.
However, the roster for this international window is more about a big name not listed. National team captain Alphonso Davies remains out after recently suffering a torn muscle in his right thigh while playing in the Champions League for Bayern Munich.
It’s believed Davies will be ready for the World Cup in June, but it’s been a tough 12 months of injuries for him after he tore his ACL playing for Canada last March.
