Canada is on the verge of history.

As Les Rouges prepares to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup along Mexico and the United States, the Canadians are poised to reach the knockout stage for the first time ever.

Lumped into Group B with Switzerland, Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina, expectations have never been higher for Canada. Led by the likes of Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David, this is the most skilled Canadian contingent ever and coach Jesse Marsch has this squad playing a high-intensity system that leads to plenty of offensive opportunities.

So, who will capitalize on those offensive opportunities and lead Canada into the knockout round? Let’s get into it.

Jonathan David (+175)

Despite a disappointing first season with Juventus in Serie A, Jonathan David is a heavy favourite to lead Canada in scoring for a reason. David led Les Rouges with two goals at the 2024 Copa America and he should be Canada’s penalty taker at the World Cup. That last part alone will give David more than ample opportunity to lead the team in goals.

Cyle Larin (+600)

Cyle Larin is coming off an up-and-down club season, but he ended the last few months strong after joining EFL Championship side Southhampton on a loan in February, scoring eight goals in 16 appearances. Larin and Tani Oluwaseyi have split time playing beside David in recent friendlies, so grabbing that position in the World Cup will be key.

Alphonso Davies (+1000)

Captain Alphonso Davies is easily Canada’s most important and dangerous player and the Bayern Munich superstar would be a heavy favourite to lead the national team in goals if he was healthy. However, Davies has already been ruled out of the opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina because of a hamstring injury and even if he plays the other two group stage matches, he’ll clearly be less than 100 per cent.
