Alphonso Davies
Davies suffered the injury in Bayern’s 6-1 win over Atalanta on Tuesday in the first leg of a Champions League Round of 16 matchup. No recovery timeline was offered for the 25-year-old.
Davies came on to start the second half and assisted on Michael Olise’s 64th-minute goal before going down with an apparent non-contact injury in the 70th minute.
The Edmonton native was able to make it off the pitch under his own power, but he was visibly in pain on the sidelines as he was comforted by manager Vincent Kompany.
Tuesday was just the 13th match of the season for Davies, who returned to action in December after recovering from a torn ACL suffered playing for Canada last March.
The injury puts Davies’ status in doubt for the next international window at the end of the month. Canada is set to host friendlies against Iceland Tunisia at BMO Field in Toronto on March 28 and March 31 respectively.
2026 World Cup
Canada is co-hosting the World Cup in June and July along with the United States and Mexico.
The Canadians are +450 to advance past the group stage for the first time ever. They are +15,000 to win the tournament.
