Boston vs. Montreal Prediction: PWHL Betting Odds
Boston lost their chance to get some more regular season ice time this week when their game against Ottawa was postponed due to inclement weather in Massachusetts which didn’t permit the Canadian team to fly into the States.
Boston
Boston played their lone game of the season on Tuesday, January 2nd against Montreal and lost that game 3-2. They’ll get their chance to even the series this Saturday afternoon.
It’s tough to get a read this early on Boston’s PWHL team, since they dropped their first matchup against Montreal and didn’t look particularly sharp on the ice for their inaugural game.
The team couldn’t find any rhythm for the first two periods of that Tuesday game, but started to show signs of life in the third, which, this early on, is reason enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. Something to consider: Boston has the oldest roster in the PWHL, with seven players over thirty.
Montreal
Montreal now has three games under their belts – a 3-2 overtime win against Ottawa, a 3-0 loss to the league best Minnesota team and a 5-2 win against New York.
It’s hard to imagine an extremely deep bench that includes both Marie-Philip Poulin and Ann-Renee Desbiens not finding their star-powered chemistry to start to build a solid team in Montreal.
That 3-0 loss to Minnesota was an historic game as it was the first PWHL game to be a home ice winner. Minnesota fans were treated to a showcase of talent, in particular, the play of Grace Zumwinkle, who got all three goals for her team, securing the league’s first ever hat trick and becoming the league’s first star of the week. Fun fact? Zumwinkle was cut from Team USA’s 2023 world championship roster.
