Canada didn’t exactly kick their tournament off with a bang as they entered the first game as heavy favourites only to sneak past Denmark 4-2. It was a more dominant performance for Denmark, who dumped Austria 5-1 in their first preliminary round game.

Canada and Denmark will meet at Prague Arena on Sunday at 10:20 a.m. ET.

Canada is favoured to win by 3.5 goals on the World Championship odds, with the game total set at 6.0.

If you’re looking for a straight play on the puckline, Canada at -3.5 goals is priced at -115, while Demark at +3.5 is -110. The game total is 6.0, with the Over priced at -130 and the Under sitting at -105. A simple moneyline play has Canada as massive -5000 favourites to win, while Demark is +1000.

A three-way result has Canada winning in regulation time at +800, Denmark in regulation at +1400 and a tie at the end of regulation at +825. Team Canada

It was a slower start to the tournament for Canada than most people would have predicted. Great Britain surprised the Canadians by taking an early 1-0 lead on Saturday morning, but Canada responded with four straight goals. The Canadians outshot the Brits 34-15 overall, including 12-3 in the first period alone. Connor Bedard was named the game’s MVP after scoring two goals, while Michael Bunting and Brandon Hagel also scored. Joel Hofer stopped 13 of 15 shots faced, but it could be Jordan Binnington in net against Denmark. Recently named captain John Tavares is also expected to draw into the lineup for the first time this tournament.

Team Denmark

Denmark looked strong in their preliminary round opener over Austria. The Danes outshot Austria 34-17 and never trailed in the 5-1 victory. Joachim Blichfeld, who had a brief stint with the San Jose Sharks a few years ago, scored twice and added an assist. Markus Lauridsen, Frederik Storm and Felix Scheel also scored, while former Edmonton Oilers winger Patrick Russell added two assists. Frederik Dichow made 16 saves, but Mathias Seldrup will likely get the start against Canada. And don’t overlook Denmark on Sunday, as they beat Canada 3-2 the last time the teams met in 2022.
