Senators vs. Predators NHL Betting Odds

Saturday is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams with Nashville visiting Ottawa on Jan. 9. The Predators swept the series last season. The game in Music City was a 4-1 victory.

Matt Duchene (2G, 1A), Mattias Ekholm (3A) and Roman Josi (3A) led the Preds with three points each. Josi is one of the best offensive blueliners in the NHL and won the Norris Trophy in 2020. Juuse Saros started both in net and had a 1.50 goals-against average and .955 save per centage.

Josh Norris (1G, 1A) and Brady Tkachuk (1G, 1A) led the Senators with two points each. Anton Forsberg was in net for both and had a 3.10 GAA and .908 SV.

The home team is 7-1 in the past eight meetings – Ottawa has dropped its past seven in Nashville.

Ottawa Senators

Ottawa lost its second in a row Thursday, 4-3 in overtime in Dallas. That was a tough one as the Sens rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 on goals from Derick Brassard (fourth of season), Thomas Chabot (sixth; third straight game with a goal) and Travis Hamonic (third), but Dallas tied it with about five minutes left in regulation and then Tyler Seguin won it at 4:31 of OT. Wyatt Johnston stole the puck from Senators defenceman Jake Sanderson and fed Seguin in front. Anton Forsberg allowed all four goals on 32 shots. Might be back to Cam Talbot here, and he’s 4-7-0 with a 2.84 GAA and .907 SV. Ottawa is 3-7 in its past 10 vs. the Western Conference.

Nashville Predators

Nashville had a three-game winning streak snapped Thursday in a 5-2 loss at Tampa Bay – it was 2-2 entering the third period. Mark Jankowski (third of season) and Alexandre Carrier (first) had the Predators’ goals. Jankowski’s goal, his first since Nov. 12, was Nashville’s first shorthanded tally of the season. The only teams yet to score shorthanded this year as of this writing are Ottawa, Montreal and Anaheim. Juuse Saros stopped 27 shots. Since Nov. 1, Saros has a 7-3-1 record but has allowed three or more goals in eight of those 11 starts. Fourth-line centre Cody Glass (1G, 2A) missed his second straight game with an upper-body injury. The Predators are 5-0 in their past five after scoring two goals or fewer in their previous game.
