Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds
Wednesday marks the fourth and final meeting of the regular season between these long-time rivals, with the Red Wings looking to go for a season series sweep. Detroit opened the series with 6-3 and 3-2 wins back in October, and most recently took them down 3-2 in overtime just before the new year. Cam Talbot started each of those games for Detroit, while Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond each have four points in the set.
Over their past 10 meetings, they have hit the OVER just four times, but the matchup is always tight, with eight of them being two-goal games.
Detroit has been rolling lately, winning six of its past seven, mostly thanks to impressive defensive and goaltending play. They have not given up more than three in any of those games, and goalie John Gibson is riding a six-game win streak of his own. In their past seven games, they are 3-4 on the OVER/UNDER.
Toronto is on the other side of that story, struggling to keep the puck out of its net. They have lost three of their past four games, while giving up 21 goals. They have hit the OVER in five straight games, moving their record on the OVER/UNDER to 28-17-4 on the season. Their only shot at winning games is outscoring their opponents, which is completely possible with their fifth-ranked offence, scoring 3.37 goals per game.
Detroit Red Wings
Coming off two days of rest, the Red Wings are opening a three-game road trip on Wednesday, looking for their third straight win in Toronto.
Their most recent outing, Sunday afternoon versus the Ottawa Senators, was an exciting back-and-forth game, ending in a 4-3 overtime win. They dug themselves into a 2-0 hole just five-minutes into the contest, but battled back to get ahead 3-2 in the second. The Sens tied things up shortly after, and a scoreless third period set the stage for an Alex DeBrincat game-winner just 36 seconds into the extra frame.
After a rough start to his Red Wings tenure, John Gibson came storming back this month, playing as the best goalie in the league since flipping the calendar to 2026. He’s posted a .928 save percentage paired with a 1.99 goals against average and a 6-1 record this month.
Depth scoring has been huge for the Red Wings’ success, Andrew Copp being a prime example. The Michigan native has nine points (4G, 5A) in the past nine games, and with 30 points on the campaign, he is on pace to have his best season in a Wings uniform.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto was playing its best stretch of hockey after the holiday break, putting together a 10-game point streak, which included a road win over the best team in hockey. Since that high, the Leafs have gone back to their struggles, managing just one overtime win in their past four games.
The Leafs opened a five-game homestand on Monday, hosting the Minnesota Wild, with hopes of getting back in the win column. The game was all Minnesota from puck drop as the Wild scored three unanswered in the second period to take a 5-1 lead into the third. Toronto managed to pot two in the third before giving up an empty netter, giving them a 6-3 loss. This marked the third time in four games that they have given up six goals.
The bright spot for the Leafs over the past month has been captain Auston Matthews finding his stride. The former 60-goal guy has been on fire this month, potting 10 goals and adding five assists for 15 points in 10 games this month.
Toronto’s leading point getter, William Nylander, has missed the team’s past two games with a groin injury, which is raising concern in Leafs nation as it may be a long-term injury.
