Adam Lowry
Lowry underwent hip surgery in late May and returned to skating last month. He told reporters on Thursday that he will be in “solitary confinement” to start training camp.
Lowry was named captain of the Jets ahead of the 2023-24 season. The 32-year-old is entering the last of a five-year contract that carries a $3.25 million salary cap hit. Both Lowry and sniper Kyle Connor are eligible for unrestricted free agency next July.
Lowry is coming off a season that saw him record 34 points, including a career-high 16 goals. He added another four goals in 13 playoff games as Winnipeg went on to be eliminated in a six-game second-round series against Dallas.
Lowry has 273 points (121G, 152A) in 775 career games after the Jets picked him in the third round of the 2011 NHL draft.
Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg will need Lowry back at full health if they want to compete in the stacked Central Division.
The Jets enter the year with the third-shortest odds to win the Central at +550, trailing only Dallas (+220) and Colorado (+210).
Winnipeg hasn’t made it past the second round of the playoffs since they faced the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Finals in 2018, losing in five games.
