NHL Odds: Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews (lower-body) hasn’t skated since Nov. 11

Auston Matthews
A few days after the injury, Berube told reporters Matthews was expected to miss about a week, but that timeline is now in question after the latest update.
Toronto has two home games this week against St. Louis on Tuesday and Columbus on Thursday before facing the Canadiens at the Bell Centre on Saturday.
It’s unclear exactly what injury Matthews is dealing with, but it’s not believed to be related to the upper-body injury that kept him out of the lineup for significant portions of last season.
Matthews has 14 points (9G, 5A) in 17 games this season.
Injury bug
Matthews is part of a long list of injured Maple Leafs players. Defencemen Chris Tanev (upper-body) and Brandon Carlo (lower-body), goalie Anthony Stolarz (upper-body) and centre Scott Laughton (upper-body) are all on injured reserve.
Berube also said centre Nicolas Roy will miss Tuesday’s game with an upper-body injury. Toronto is a slim -135 moneyline favourite against St. Louis.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The long list of injuries has taken its toll on the Leafs in the standings. After being one of the most consistently strong regular season teams for almost a decade, Toronto is off to an 8-9-2 start, which ties them with Washington for second-last in the Eastern Conference.
While the Maple Leafs are only four points out of a playoff spot, they will need to leapfrog seven teams to overtake the second wild-card position. Oddsmakers now have Toronto as more likely to miss the playoffs (-130) than to make the postseason (+110).
