Winnipeg Jets vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction, NHL Odds
The Jets are back in action for the first time since a 4-2 home win over St. Louis on Dec. 19. Winnipeg will head to Vegas Sunday night to face a Golden Knights squad coming off a 3-1 New Year’s Eve home win over Anaheim.
Vegas is a -150 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with a total of 6.0.
Jets vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds
It’s the first meeting between these teams in almost two years after Winnipeg swept the two-game season series in 2019-20. Almost 75 per cent of the Sports Interaction betting public is on Vegas for this one however, with a 60/40 split in favour of the Over.
The Jets haven’t had much success on the road this year, dropping four of their last six games outside of Winnipeg. They’re 16-14 against the spread overall and 6-7 ATS on the road. High scoring games have been a trend, with Winnipeg hitting the Over in seven of their last eight games.
After a slow start to the season, the Golden Knights have been hot, winning seven of their last eight games. They haven’t been a great cover option, however, as they’re 14-20 ATS overall and just 5-13 ATS at home. Vegas has hit the Over in seven of their last 10 games overall and four of their last five at home.
Winnipeg Jets
It was a historic night for Paul Statsny on Dec. 19, as the veteran forward notched two goals and his 500th career assist. Nikolaj Ehlers and Mark Scheifele also scored in the win, while Connor Hellebuyck stopped 26 of 28 shots. It was the first win under interim coach Dave Lowry, who will lead the Jets for the rest of the season after Paul Maurice resigned on Dec. 17. Winnipeg’s leading scorer, Kyle Connor, was held off the score sheet. Connor leads the team in both points (32) and goals (18). Hellebuyck is expected to get the start on Sunday. The former Vezina Trophy winner is 11-9-4 this season with a 2.69 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.
Vegas Golden Knights
It was a pretty quiet night for backup goalie Laurent Brossoit in Vegas’ New Year’s Eve win as the former Winnipeg Jets goalie only needed to make 15 saves to earn the win for Vegas. Nicolas Roy, Adam Brooks and Mattias Janmark scored for the Golden Knights, who are now a perfect 4-0 on New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day since entering the league in 2017. It was Vegas’ 10th win in their last 12 games and they now have a three-point cushion over Anaheim for first place in the Pacific Division.
Chandler Stephenson continues to lead the team with 34 points (10G, 24A), while Jonathan Marchessault has a team-best 16 goals and 24 points. Max Pacioretty is out of the lineup indefinitely following wrist surgery last Thursday. The veteran forward, who also missed a month earlier this year with a fractured foot, has 21 points (12G, 9A) in 16 games. Robin Lehner should get the start on Sunday. Lehner has had an up-and-down year, posting a 14-9-0 record with a 3.03 GAA and .905 SV.
