Winnipeg Jets vs. Anaheim Ducks Prediction, NHL Odds
The Ducks will hope to play spoiler and make the wildcard race much more interesting as the Flames are just four points behind.
Winnipeg will hope to get their offence rolling against a Ducks team that has been horrible defensively all season. Connor Hellebuyck has been lights out this season stopping 1571 shots (3rd in NHL) and could use some relief from his forwards.
The Jets are listed as the heavy -240 favourite to win on the NHL odds with the total sitting at 6.5.
Jets vs. Ducks NHL Betting Odds
This will be the third and final head-to-head between the Jets and Ducks this season and Winnipeg will be looking to sweep the season series. The ‘Peg has won their past four meetings, holding Anaheim to two goals or less in all but one of those wins. The Jets’ leading scorer Kyle Connor has been feeding on the Ducks this season, grabbing five points (3G 2A) in just two games. The series shifts to Anaheim tonight which could play to the Ducks’ advantage as the home team is 5-1 in their past six matchups.
No other team has played the Under more times than the Jets have this season holding a 20-47-5 record on the Over/Under. They have been staying on trend lately with five of their past six going Under and they have not scored more than three in any game during that stretch. They have not covered the spread in any of their past five games as the inconsistency plagues the club. They are now 37-35 ATS on the season.
The Ducks have been struggling to muster any offence lately, playing the Under in back-to-back games and scoring just one goal in each of those losses. They lead the league in goals against, giving up 285 goals through 71 games so far (4 per game) and have a 37-32-2 record on the Over/Under. They have covered in five of their past seven games, in which they have gone 2-4-1, bringing their record on the spread to 34-37.
Winnipeg Jets
Two goals in the first period were enough for the Jets to sneak out a narrow 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night. Nikolaj Ehlers (9) scored his third goal in the past five games, on a breakaway to open the scoring for the ‘Peg. This was the first time in five games that the Jets scored first and they did not look back. Adam Lowry (10) then ripped a shorthanded one-timer to give his team a 2-0 lead, which would stand as the game-winner.
The first game of the game was Connor Hellebuyck, who stopped 29 shots, making key saves as his team was outshot 18-3 in the second period.
Winnipeg is going to have to find some consistency if they want to get back into the postseason. This was just their second win in their last five contests. The Calgary Flames are only four points behind them for the final wildcard spot in the West.
Anaheim Ducks
Frank Vatrano (17) scored the lone goal for the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday as they got torched 5-1 by the Calgary Flames. This was the Ducks sixth loss in their past eight games, leaving them just five points out of last in the NHL.
Vatrano scored on the powerplay after the Ducks went 15 straight powerplay attempts without a goal. They have the second-worst powerplay this season, clicking at just 16%.
John Gibson stopped 38 shots in the net for Anaheim in the loss, facing over 40 shots for the 20th time this season.
The Ducks’ offence needs to be better, but unfortunately, Troy Terry, one of their only two 20-goal scorers, left the game with an injury. The 25-year-old winger is listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
Thursday’s game versus Winnipeg will be the sixth of an absurdly long eight-game home stand. They have only won 12 games at the Honda Center all season.
