Winnipeg has been on fire over the past few weeks, winning eight of their past ten games and currently riding a five-game heater. Washington has been almost as good over the past ten games, at 7-1-2. The Jets hold the top spot in the league by just a single point but have played two more games than the Caps.

The NHL odds have the Caps as a slight -120 favourite at home, with the total opening at 5.5 goals. The puck will drop from Capital One Arena at 7:00 PM ET.

Jets vs. Capitals NHL Betting Odds

Saturday’s heavy-weight matchup will be the first meeting of the season between the two best teams in the league. Both games in their two-game series ended 3-0 with each team taking a win, hammering the UNDER. The Caps swept both season series, prior to last year. Looking even further to their last 10 meetings, Washington has a 7-3 record but hit the OVER in just four of those meetings.

The Jets have covered in all of their games during their five-game win streak pushing their record ATS to 29-24 on the year. Although the Jets lead the league in goals per game at 3.58 they have only hit the OVER in 20 of their 51 games. Connor Hellebuyck’s 2.00 goals against per game currently leads the league along with his 41 starts. Those stats have Hellebuyck as a heavy favourite to repeat for the Vezina Trophy on the NHL Futures Board.

Exceeding expectations all season has the Capitals at a league-leading 33-18 record ATS, although they have failed to do so in two of their past three games. They have hit the OVER just once in the past 10 games putting their record on the OVER/UNDER to 20-28-3 on the season.

Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg was last in action on Thursday when they took down the Boston Bruins 6-2 for their fifth-straight win. Their league-best powerplay broke the ice early in the game on a goal from Vladislav Namestnikov (10) followed by Mark Scheifele’s 30th of the season. The Bruins powerplay would pot one before the end of the first to cut the lead. After a scoreless second period, the floodgates opened in the third. Boston opened the scoring with a shorthanded, but the Jets would answer just 24 seconds later to spark four straight goals to bury the Bruins 6-2.

The win improved the Jets’ road record to an impressive 16-9 on the season as they head to Washington on Saturday to wrap up the three-game road trip. Expect Hellebuyck to get his third consecutive start in this one as the Jets look to extend their win streak and their lead in the standings.

Washington Capitals

After a six-game heater, the Caps have cooled down a bit dropping two of their past three games. They returned home on Saturday after a five-game road trip which ended with a 5-4 loss in Ottawa versus the Senators. The game went scoreless through the first before Ottawa jumped ahead 3-1 after the second period. A pair of goals from Dylan Strome (14, 15) and one from Alex Ovechkin (23) tied things at four to send it to overtime. Ottawa ended the game just a minute into the extra frame handing the Caps their second loss of the road trip.

With Ovechkin scoring his 23rd of the season, he is now just 19 away from Gretzky’s all-time goal-scoring record, with 31 games left on the schedule. It seems like a matter of when and not if Ovi will overtake the all-time lead. You can bet on how he will score his 895th career goal on the NHL Futures Board with the even strength listed as the favourite at -208.
