Hurricanes vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds
Tonight will be the second of three meetings this season between Toronto and Carolina. The Hurricanes won the first game 4-1 on Oct. 25, thanks to a 24-save performance from former Maple Leaf goalie Frederik Andersen. The season series finale is scheduled for March 17.
The teams have split the last 10 head-to-heads, with the Over going 6-4. Both teams are top five in the league in scoring, leading 78 per cent of bettors to take the Over. The underdog Carolina is seeing the majority of the Moneyline bets at 65 per cent.
Carolina has failed to cover the spread five contests in a row and is 3-7 ATS in the last 10. Their past three games have played the Under, making their record 17-22 O/U on the season.
The Leafs have covered in three consecutive games, giving them only 18 covers on the year. They have played the Under in their past three games but are still 22-19 on the O/U for the season.
Carolina Hurricanes
Andrei Svechnikov was the hero in the Hurricanes’ last outing against the San Jose Sharks. The 21-year-old winger knocked in a rebound to give Carolina the 2-1 lead with only three minutes to go in the game.
The Hurricanes are halfway through their schedule and Sebastian Aho has easily been the MVP. The Finn leads the team in points(45) goals(19) and assists(26) through the team’s first 42 games.
Carolina is likely to get Teuvo Teravainen back tonight after missing the past two games due to injury.
The Canes will continue their road trip tomorrow with a game in Ottawa against the Senators.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Leafs ran over the New Jersey Devils in back-to-back games by a combined score of 15-5 right before the all-star break. Mitch Marner had seven points (3G,4A) and Auston Matthews had six (4G,2A) in the mini-series.
At 42 games played, Toronto has officially finished the first half of their schedule. Matthews leads them in goals (29) and points (51), while defenceman Morgan Reilly has the most assists (33).
On the injury front, Jake Muzzin is back at team practice but will not be ready to go tonight.
The Maple Leafs’ next contest will be Thursday night in Calgary, the first stop of a three-game western conference road trip.
