The Avalanche will be looking for their second straight win over the Vegas Golden Knights and sole possession of top spot in the West Division on Saturday in Colorado.  After trailing less than a minute into Thursday’s game, the Avs scored five straight goals to win and put themselves in a tie with Vegas for first in the West.

Colorado is a -176 favourite to win on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5.

Golden Knights vs. Avalanche Betting Analysis

Colorado is one of the few teams Vegas has struggled against in their short history.  The Avs have won seven of the last 10 meetings between these teams, including three of five this season.  Thursday was the first game between these teams to hit the Over this season.

With their goaltending starting to come back down to normal and a high powered offence, Vegas games have seen a lot more scoring, lately.  The Golden Knights have hit the Over in four of their last six road games and four of their last five games overall.  Vegas is 13-18 against the spread, covering six times on the road.

Colorado’s offence has been red-hot.  The Avs have hit the Over in six straight games and are 8-1 straight up over their last nine.  They’re riding a seven-game win streak at home and are 14-18 ATS overall.  Colorado has covered in half of their 18 home games this season.

Vegas Golden Knights

Everything started out great for Vegas on Thursday.  Max Pacioretty returned from a two-game absence and buried his team-leading 17th goal of the season 40 seconds into the game and Vegas took a 1-0 lead into the break.  Unfortunately, that’s about as good as it got for the Golden Knights.  It did look like Nicolas Roy put Vegas back on the scoreboard in the third period, but an offside challenge negated the goal.  Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves in the loss.  It was Vegas’ first loss of the season when leading heading into the second period.  Before Thursday they were 14-0-0 went up after one period.

Colorado Avalanche

Colorado’s four-goal second period helped them earn their seventh straight home win and also extended their point streak to nine games.  Gabriel Landeskog, Cale Makar and J.T. Compher each finished with a goal and an assist, while Philipp Grubauer made 18 saves in the win.  Landeskog now has 13 points (4G, 9A) over a seven-game point streak.  Mikko Rantanen picked up an assist on Landeskog’s goal and extended his own point streak to eight games and 14 points (7G, 7A).  Rantanen has quietly been having a stellar season and sits sixth in the NHL’s points race (39) and third in goals (19).  He leads the Avs in both categories.
