Flames vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds
Saturday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Arena marks the first of two scheduled meetings between these teams this season. The Flames have claimed victory in two of their past three head-to-head clashes while limited Toronto to just five total goals over that stretch. However, the Maple Leafs have otherwise dominated, picking up two points in seven of 11 dates since the start of the abbreviated 2021 NHL campaign. Low scoring has been commonplace when these teams face off, with an average of just 4.31 total goals getting scored during a 12-5-2 run for the UNDER.
Calgary Flames
It has been a tale of two teams for the Flames so far this season. The club has averaged an impressive 3.57 goals per game while going 10-5-1 at home, but has mustered just 2.27 goals per game on the road, where they have won just twice over their past 10 contests. Those woes continued in Thursday’s 3-1 loss to the Blue Jackets. Overall, the Flames have scored just four times during their four-game road slide, and have now managed to score more than two goals just four times through their first 11 road dates. The quartet of Elias Lindholm, Tyler Toffoli, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Nazem Kadri have combined to produce just 16 total points on the road this season, and just three total goals over the past seven road dates. However, Kadri has enjoyed steady success facing his old teammates since leaving Toronto three years ago, scoring twice and adding four assists in six appearances since.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs put opposing shooters on notice with another stingy performance on Thursday night. Just two nights after Matt Murray made 44 saves to earn the shutout in the team’s 4-0 victory in Dallas, Ilya Samsonov followed up with a stellar 29-save outing in the club’s 5-0 rout of the Kings. Overall, the Maple Leafs have now outscored opponents by a wide 29-12 margin during a solid 7-0-1 run, trail only Boston and New Jersey with a team goals against average of 2.36. Mitch Marner extended his team-record points streak to 21 games with a goal on Thursday, and leads all Toronto shooters with 33 points. Marner’s streak has captured headlines in Toronto, and has overshadowed what has been a productive run for Auston Matthews, who has scored in five of six outings, and racked up 10 points during his current six-game points streak.
