The Calgary Flames roll into Boston Sunday night looking to extend their win streak to three games following a 5-2 win against the Islanders on Saturday.  The Bruins also won 5-2 on Saturday, taking down the Flyers in Philadelphia.

Boston is a -174 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with a total of 5.5.

Flames vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

It’s been a full season since these teams have met.  They split two February 2020 encounters, with the road team picking up the win in both games.  The past four games between these teams have hit the Over.  Sports Interaction bettors are slightly leaning towards Calgary in this game, at about a 56 per cent rate, while the Over is getting nearly 95 per cent of the action.

The Flames have been great on the road this season, going 8-2-2 away from the Saddledome.  They’re 11-7 against the spread overall, including 9-3 ATS on the road.  The total has gone Under in four of Calgary’s last five games.

Boston has been as dominant as ever at TD Garden this year.  The Bruins are 6-1 at home and have won four of their last five games overall.  They’re 6-8 ATS, covering in three of seven home games.  The total has gone Over in six of Boston’s last seven games overall.

Calgary Flames

The Battle of Alberta is in full swing this season as Calgary sits a single point back of Edmonton for top spot in the Pacific Division.  The Flames’ stingy defence has been a key to their success.  They average 2.00 goals-against per game, tied for the best mark in the NHL.  They also rank ninth in power-play success (23.5 per cent) and fifth in penalty kill success (87.3).  Andrew Mangiapane had two power-play goals against the Islanders, while Brad Richardson had an even strength marker.  Trevor Lewis and Johnny Gaudreau each added an empty-netter.  Johnny Hockey leads the team with 21 points (7G, 14A) in 18 games.

Jacob Markstrom stopped 34 of 36 shots in Saturday night’s contest, so it’s expected that Dan Vladar will get the start against his former team on Sunday.  Vladar, who was traded from Boston in the off-season, is 3-0-1 this year with a 1.96 goals-against average and .933 save percentage.

Boston Bruins

As it stands in the crowded Atlantic Division, the Bruins sit on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.  Things are looking up for Boston now though, as they’ve won their last three games and six of their last eight.  Derek Forbort’s two-goal performance made the difference in Saturday’s win against the Flyers.  Tomas Nosek, Craig Smith and David Pastrnak also found the back of the net for the Bruins.  Brad Marchand’s assist on Forbort’s first goal was his team-leading 20th point (8G, 12A) of the year.  It was also Marchand’s eighth straight game with a point.  Linus Ullmark made 29 saves in the win, which means Jeremy Swayman should start on Sunday.  Swayman is 5-2-0 this year, with a 2.16 GAA and .914 SV.
