If the Edmonton Oilers continue struggling in winnable games, they’ll find themselves with another cushy seat at the draft lottery this spring. The Oilers look to snap out of a season-long funk as they take on the host Boston Bruins on Sunday evening. Edmonton dropped a 3-1 decision to the struggling Buffalo Sabres 3-1 on Friday night and has lost eight of its last nine games against teams with losing records.

NHL Odds and Betting Analysis

Boston won the final three games of a four-game road trip, and carried that momentum back with them to Beantown as they edged the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Friday. That has them a comfortable favourite in this one, and with eight wins in their last nine home games against teams with road winning rates below 40 percent, they’re in great position to reward bettors. Edmonton has dropped 13 of its previous 18 games against Eastern Conference foes.

The Oilers have been a solid under play away from Edmonton, going below the total in nine of their previous 13 road games. They’re also 2-7 O/U in their last nine road contests vs. teams with winning home records. Meanwhile, the Bruins have gone under in five of their previous seven games overall and five of their last seven contests against Western Conference opponents, and are 4-9-1 O/U in their last 14 games following a victory.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers have won their previous five meetings with the Bruins after dropping the previous nine – but if they can’t figure out how to score goals more consistently, that streak is coming to an end. Edmonton has scored two goals or fewer in five of its past 10 games, and came into the weekend ranked 27th out of 31 teams in goals per game (2.6). This despite firing an average of 34.2 shots on goal, the seventh-best rate in the league.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins are rising up the Eastern Conference standings despite struggling mightily on special teams of late. Not only has Boston gone a dreadful 2-for-33 with the man advantage so far this month – including an 0-for-10 showing during its winning streak – it has also surrendered a power-play goal in three of its previous four games. Anthon Khudobin has been in goal for all three victories and has been sensational, allowing just six goals over that stretch.
