Canucks vs. Senators Betting Analysis

Ottawa has been one of the only teams Vancouver has actually had success against this season.  The Canucks have won all four meetings with the Senators this year by a combined score of 19-5.

Vancouver has had nothing but success against the Senators over the last few years.  The Canucks have won eight of the last nine games between these teams.  Vancouver is 15-17 against the spread this season, only managing to cover in four of 14 road games.  The total has gone Under in five of the Canucks’ last six games.

This year clearly hasn’t been great for the Sens.  Ottawa is 10-20-2, although they’ve managed to go 6-2-2 at home.  The Senators have a solid supply of offensive talent to offset some of the mistakes a young team like this is prone to make, helping Ottawa hit the Over in five of their last seven games.  They’ve gone 16-16 ATS, covering in 10 of 14 home games.

Vancouver Canucks

Thatcher Demko seems to have solidly wrestled the starting netminder job away from veteran Braden Holtby.  Demko made 44 saves in his sixth straight start on Monday for his 10th win of the season.  He’s 10-10-1 on the season with a 2.74 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.  Holtby has struggled, posting a 4-6-1 record with a GAA well above 3.00 and an SV below .900.  Jayce Hawryluk and Tanner Pearson both scored first period goals on Monday, before J.T. Miller’s eighth goal of the season won the game in OT.  Miller is second on the team with 27 points (8G, 19A) in 29 games.  Brock Boeser leads the Canucks with 14 goals and 29 points in 32 games.

Ottawa Senators

Tim Stutzle picked up an assist on Josh Norris’ sixth goal of the season on Monday, as the two Ottawa rookies continue to climb in the rookie scoring race.  Stutzle is second in NHL rookie scoring with 18 points (6G, 12A), while Norris is third with 16 points (6G, 10A).  Only leaving the game with one point likely feels a little bitter for the Sens, as they actually outshot Vancouver 46-28 and just happened to run into a hot goaltender on the other side of the ice.  Keep an eye on Thomas Chabot on Wednesday.  After playing 29:48 in Sunday’s win over Toronto, the defenceman had 31:11 of ice time against the Canucks.  Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson have been the offensive force on this team and each have 11 goals.  Tkachuk also leads the Sens with 22 points.
