Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds
Connor McDavid continues the race towards 100 points, as the Edmonton Oiler host the Vancouver Canucks for the final two games of their four-game mini-series.
McDavid picked up points No. 92 and 93 in Edmonton’s 4-1 win Tuesday night, extending the Canucks losing streak to six games.
Canucks vs. Oilers Betting Analysis
The Oilers are heavy -260 favourites to win on the NHL odds tonight. Vancouver and Edmonton are trending in opposite directions as the Canucks try and avoid losing seven straight, while the Oilers are on a three-game winning streak and lead the season series five games to two.
The Oilers have covered the spread in seven of their last nine games, bringing them to 27-24 on the year. Vancouver has failed to cover in seven of their past eight and they have gone 6-15 against the spread on the road.
We’re seeing 88 per cent of bettors taking the Over with the total at 6 tonight. The Over has hit four times in seven matchups in this season series.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks gruelling schedule is starting to catch up to them as their season winds down to nine games. After returning from a COVID-19 outbreak they looked great winning three out of four, but they have not won a game since. So far they have played 10 games in 18 days and their sprint to the finish is only halfway over. Vancouver will have only five days off between their last nine games of the year.
Brock Boeser opened the scoring Tuesday night, but the offence could not get another one as they continue to struggle to get on the board. They are averaging only 1.67 goals per game during their losing streak.
Who gets the start tonight is still up in the air. Thatcher Demko has lost six straight starts and has a record of 1-4 against Edmonton this year, but he is still seen as their No. 1. Braden Holtby is 1-1 this year against the Oilers, but he has posted an ugly 3.34 goals-against average on the season.
Edmonton Oilers
Connor McDavid set a personal goal to hit 100 points this season for the fourth time in his career. He has seven points to go with only five games left on Edmontons schedule, three of which are against Vancouver. McDavid isn’t alone in his quest as the entire Oilers team is pushing to get him to that 100 mark.
Leon Draisaitl potted two of McDavid’s feeds in a dominant second period by the Oilers as they scored three goals in the last five minutes against Vancouver on Tuesday. Edmonton’s current win streak has put them only six points back of the Maple Leafs for first place. Expect an extra motivated Oilers team tonight as they are beginning to look dangerous heading into the playoffs.
