Canadiens vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds
The Canadiens are looking to bounce back after back-to-back season sweeps from the Golden Knights. They have not defeated Vegas since bouncing them in the third round of the 2021 playoffs.
These contests tend to be high scoring, playing the Over/Under 4-0-1 in the past five.
Montreal’s offence has been pretty solid to open the season being held to less than three goals just twice through eight games. They are currently 1-0-1 on the road this season and the team will be looking to improve that this week, with three on the road.
The Golden Knights have been dominant this season putting up an 8-0-1 record, along with the second-highest scoring offence in the league (3.9 per game) and the sixth lowest goals against (2.2 per game). They are back on home ice to face the Canadiens Monday looking to build on their 4-0-1 record. They have played the Under in four of their five home games but have only covered twice.
Montreal Canadiens
The Habs chased the game all night on Saturday, after falling behind one to nothing in the opening five minutes. Defenceman Justin Barron stayed hot, scoring his third goal in four games to tie things up before the Jets answered with back-to-back goals before a minute ticked off in the second.
Sean Monahan sparked the comeback with a powerplay goal, before Joel Armia tied the game, playing in his first game of the season.
Jake Allen went perfect in the shootout to seal the win after stopping 42 of 45 in regulation, bumping the Canadiens to a 5-2-1 record.
With 11 points in eight games, Montreal now sits tied for fourth in the league. Only two of those wins have come in regulation, but the young squad is finding ways to put points together.
The Canadiens might be without their top d-man Mike Matheson versus Vegas as he is listed as day-to-day. He will be taking the trip with the team though as they are set for three straight Western Conference matchups.
Vegas Golden Knights
Vegas continued their early season dominance on Saturday night, beating the LA Kings 4-3 in a shootout. This win got them to 8-0-1 on the season after being defeated for the first time all season on Friday. They are two points ahead of the Bruins who have also only one overtime loss for first place in the NHL.
They fell behind 2-0 early in the second period versus LA and were beginning to look like a beatable team. They then stormed back with three straight goals to go up 3-2 before the Kings scored with just over a minute left with the extra attackers.
Michael Amadio (2), William Carrier (1) and Mark Stone all scored in the game for Vegas and Jack Eichel sniped the only goal in the shootout. Shea Theodore added an assist extending his point streak to five games. The defenceman has eight points (2G 6A) over the stretch while averaging almost 25 minutes of ice time per game.
