St. Louis Blues vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds
The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets clash tonight in the NHL. These Central Division opponents have underperformed and sit in the depths of the division, but make no mistake, this should be a spirited affair.
Here is my Blues vs. Jets preview and prediction, along with the most recent NHL odds to get you set.
Blues vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds
On the puck line this season, both teams have struggled, as Winnipeg is 22-26 while St. Louis is 23-26. These similar results this season have resulted in tight money line odds, with Winnipeg (-130) the slight favourite over St. Louis (+110). As for the game totals, the line is at 6, with (-110) odds for the Over and Under. Winnipeg is 29-19-0 to the Over this season, while St. Louis is 22-25-2. Keep in mind, the Jets and Blues allow a combined 6.49 goals per game, so we may see another high total.
In the goal-scoring department, Kyle Connor (+115) and Mark Scheifele (+155) have the shortest odds in the game and for Winnipeg. Keep an eye on Connor in this matchup, as he has 14 goals and 33 points in 28 games against St. Louis in his career and has lit the lamp in two straight home games.
St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues (19-22-8) come into this one winning two of their last six games. After a nice 3-2 overtime victory against an elite Tampa Bay Lightning team, they flashed their inconsistency right away in a 5-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. They come into this game for the second of a three-game road trip, and have gone 7-13-3 on the road this season.
St. Louis will be without multiple forwards in this game. Robert Thomas, Oskar Sundqvist, Mathieu Joseph, and Pius Suter all find themselves on injured reserve. This is a tough outcome for the NHL’s lowest scoring team (2.43 goals per game), especially against a Jets team that’s given up few scoring opportunities over its last six games (2.67 goals against per game).
Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets (19-23-6) have had a very disappointing season, as they sit in the depths of the league standings as opposed to their usual division-challenging efforts. However, they have been steadying the ship and have played well with a 4-1-1 record in their last six games. They have also posted a winning record at home of 11-9-4. This game presents a strong opportunity for Winnipeg to collect another two points.
Winnipeg’s blueline is highly depleted, as they are without Neal Pionk, Haydn Fleury, Colin Miller, and Elias Salomonsson. However, they boast the NHL’s best goaltender in Connor Hellebuyck, and have been playing strong team defence for the most part. With St. Louis winning their first meeting of the season, I expect an added effort from Winnipeg.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Blues vs. Jets?
Winnipeg may be on a back-to-back, but they have played solidly lately (4-1-1 in their last six), and I see them defending home ice. Both teams are missing multiple players due to injury, but St. Louis is missing more value given their current roster construction.
The Jets possess higher firepower in this matchup, and they are on home ice, where they have impressed lately. When all is said and done, I expect a close finish, with Winnipeg winning 4-2.
