Blackhawks vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds
The Hawks took last year’s season series 2-1 over the Flames, with both teams earning their wins on home ice. Every game was close, never separated by more than a pair of goals and Chicago outscored Calgary 7-5 overall. Calgary’s win came in a 1-0 game, helping them play the UNDER in two of three.
Chicago has played the OVER 2-1 early this season and has covered the spread in back-to-back outings. After scoring just three goals in their first two games, the offence found a spark Saturday night, putting in five against the Oilers.
The Flames’ offence has carried them to a 3-0 record through the first three games, scoring a league-best 5.3 goals per game. The defence showed up for them in their most recent contest, holding the Oilers to a single goal and bumping their record on the O/U to 2-1.
Chicago Blackhawks
Tuesday’s stop in Calgary will be the final of Chicago’s four-game season-opening road trip. In their most recent game Saturday, they managed to pick up their first win of the season in Edmonton, beating the Oilers 5-2. Multiple Hawks got their first goals of the campaign in that one, but none more important than sophomore Connor Bedard. Bedard sniped in the second period to extend Chicago’s lead to 3-1. The 19-year-old also notched two assists, setting him at five points in three games.
The Hawks went out and reacquired winger Teuvo Teravainen over the summer and he has been great early on this season. He tallied four points (2G, 2A) on Saturday and is tied with Bedard for the team lead with five.
A surprising trend this season has been the Hawks’s ability with the man advantage. They went 3-for-3 on Saturday and are sitting at 42.9 per cent on the year.
Calgary Flames
Nobody had expectations for the Flames this season, so their 3-0 start has fans turning their heads. The cherry on top of their hot start was embarrassing their provincial rival on Sunday to extend their win streak.
After giving up a goal in the opening minutes of the game on the third shot on goal, the Flames bounced back in the second with a Rasmus Andersson snipe to tie things up. The new guy in town, Anthony Mantha, tallied his second of the season, putting the Flames ahead before 28-year-old journeyman Justin Kirkland notched his first career goal.
Coming off a horrible season last year, Jonathan Huberdeau has started this year on the right foot, with five points (3G, 2A) in the first three games.
