Andrew Brunette is the New Nashville Predators Coach

Andrew Brunette, who already holds an important place in Predators history, has a chance to write some more as its new head coach.  Interestingly, the man who hired Brunette is current GM Brian Trotz, who served as the club’s first-ever head coach. The two men therefore already had a close relationship.

Andrew Brunette Returns to Nashville as Head Coach

The team held a press conference on Wednesday to introduce Andrew Brunette to the media. The 49-year-old only spent one season as a player with the Predators but will always be remembered for scoring its first goal in the National Hockey League. He replaces John Hynes, who was fired earlier this week.

He returns to Nashville with some coaching experience under his belt, much of it very recent and successful. He served as interim head coach in Florida last season after the firing of Joe Quenneville, leading the club to its best regular season ever, capturing the President’s Trophy.

This past season saw him work as an assistant to Lindy Ruff with the Devils organization. New Jersey made the playoffs for the first time since 2017-2018. They vanquished the New York Rangers in seven games in the first round before capitulating to the Carolina Hurricanes in the very next stage.

As for the Predators, Brunette has some work to do considering they missed the playoffs. It was the first time since 2014 that they suffered such a fate.
