2025 NHL Trade Deadline: Maple Leafs acquire Laughton from Flyers for Grebenkin, 1st round pick
The Toronto Maple Leafs have jumped into the trade market, picking up centre Scott Laughton, a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for prospect Nikita Grebenkin and a 2027 first-round pick.
Philadelphia will retain 50 per cent of Laughton’s contract and the first-round pick Toronto is sending is top-10 protected.

Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto shored up their centre depth with the addition of Laughton behind Auston Matthews and John Tavares. The 30-year-old Laughton has 11 goals and 27 points in 60 games with the Flyers this season.
Laughton has one more year left on his contract at a cap hit of $3 million, so this is more than a rental for the Leafs and provides a little bit of cost certainty for next season.
Drafted 20th overall by Philadelphia in 2012, Laughton has 106 goals and 265 points in 661 career NHL games.
Philadelphia Flyers
Grebenkin, a 21-year-old right winger, was drafted 135th overall by the Leafs in 2022. He has seven career NHL games under his belt, although he hasn’t recorded a point.
In 39 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies this season, Grebenkin has nine goals and 21 points.
From the Flyers’ perspective, this move is obviously about the first-round pick.
