The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a 40-0 blowout win over the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. It was a big shift in momentum for a team that had lost four of five. Quarterback Joe Flacco suffered a vicious concussion but early signs point to him playing this weekend. The Ravens head out on the road to face a Tennessee Titans team that’s won two straight and four of six.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Tennessee Titans
Point Spread: Tennessee -4.5 Date: Sunday November 5th, 2017 – 4:05 PM ET Location: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee
Point Spread And Betting Analysis
Baltimore improved to 4-4 straight up and 4-4 against the spread with last week’s lopsided victory over the Dolphins. Meanwhile, the Titans are 4-3 straight up but own a 3-4 record ATS heading in to Week 9. Tennessee is listed as a 4.5-point favorite looking ahead to Sunday’s clash. Keep an eye on the status of Flacco because that could impact this betting line.
The Ravens might be 4-4 but they’ve been a very inconsistent team. Their wins have come against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns, and the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins when both teams were starting a backup quarterback.
The Ravens have averaged just 21.3 points and 279.8 total yards per game this season, which is among the worst in the NFL in both categories. The main issue has been their passing games (32nd in NFL) as they’re actually able to run the ball effectively (fourth). One key stat to keep in mind is that Tennessee is second-last in terms of sacks this season, so if Flacco is healthy and he has time to throw, the Ravens should be able to cover here.
The Titans leaned heavily on their defense in a 12-9 win over the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago to improve to 4-3. Then they hit their bye week, which means they’ll have had two weeks to prepare for this contest.
Mariota has completed 62.5% of his passes for 1,301 yards and four touchdowns this season but he has also thrown four interceptions. While the touchdown tosses are low, keep in mind that the Titans are a run-based team that is tied for the league-lead in rushing touchdowns (nine).
That sets up well for the Titans in this spot as the Ravens have allowed 1062 yards this season and their 132.8 per-game average is the third-worst in the league. If the Titans are able to pound away with running backs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, they won’t have too many problems earning their fifth win of the season.
The Titans are fresh off a bye and appear to have some matchups in their favor – even if Flacco plays. Look for them to earn another win and turn aside the Ravens, who are worse than their 4-4 record indicates.
