Packers at Giants: SNF Preview and Result

Green Bay Packers at New York Giants: Game Results and Score

The Giants cruised to a 38-10 victory over Green Bay in Week 12 SNF action.

Giants Look to Snap Skid

The New York Giants have had a week to pull themselves together after stumbling into their bye. They dropped consecutive games at home to Pittsburgh and at Cincinnati before the break and Giants’ offence struggled in a tight win over Dallas before that. The good news for NYG supporters is that a week off always does quarterback Eli Manning good. He is 4-0 coming off a bye and averages more than 325 passing yards in those games. “He’s excited about playing, I can tell you that,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin told reporters of his quarterback. “He’s looking at this as if it’s a start to a new season. That, perhaps, is the way he’s approached all games after the bye.” Coughlin had better hope so. Manning hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass since Oct. 21. The Giants are set as 2.5-point favourites.

Packers Piling up Wins

On the other sideline, the Green Bay Packers continue to surge despite playing without a number of key players this season. After beginning the season 2-3, the Packers have won five straight and sit in the driver’s seat in the NFC North playoff race. Their offence may not be as potent as it was last year, but the Cheeseheads are still averaging better than 30 points per game over their current winnings streak. Green Bay’s defence is beginning to hold its own, too. The Packers have allowed an average of 16.3 points per game over their last three. “For our defense to play that way, it gives our offense a ton of confidence, knowing that we don’t have to press thinking that we got to score just about every possession in order to win the game,” Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers said earlier this week on his weekly radio show. “They keep playing like this, we’re going to be tough to beat.”

The MASH Unit

Both teams are still banged up on offence heading into Week 12. Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw is questionable with foot and neck injuries, while wideout Dominik Hixon is also questionable with an ankle injury he picked up before the bye. Meanwhile, Packers star wideout Greg Jennings (groin) practiced this week but may be held out for another game. Green Bay running back Cedric Benson is still on the shelf and hasn’t ruled out surgery on his foot injury.

Prediction

If Jennings plays, that will be a huge boost for the Packers both between the lines as well as emotionally. That said, the Giants have been stewing over their two-game slide for the past two weeks and that won’t sit well with this bunch. New York should be able to manhandle Green Bay’s offensive line and make life difficult for Rodgers and Eli’s due for a big game. Final score prediction: New York 34, Green Bay 28.
