Bears vs. Packers Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction
A prime-time game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers is essentially an annual lock in the NFL, and they meet in the Sunday night game in Week 2 from Lambeau Field. Green Bay is a 10-point favourite to win on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
This is the NFL’s oldest rivalry but hasn’t been much of one since about Brett Favre’s debut with the Packers as they have completely dominated since then with only Favre and Aaron Rodgers under centre (for the most part), and the Bears searching for quarterback after quarterback.
Last year per usual, Green Bay swept and neither were ever much in doubt. The one at Lambeau Field was a 45-30 final score also on a Sunday night. The Packers trailed 27-21 at halftime but scored the first 24 points of the second half. Rodgers threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns. He has 61 career touchdown passes against the Bears, the most all-time against Chicago and one more than Favre. Justin Fields threw for 224 yards, two scores and two picks and led the Bears with 74 yards rushing.
Green Bay has won 12 of the last 14 meetings against the Bears at Lambeau Field and outscored Chicago 406-215 overall in those. It is the third straight season and the 11th time in the last 12 years that the Packers-Bears game at Lambeau Field will be played in prime time but Chicago’s first visit to Lambeau in September since 2018.
Chicago is 1-5 against the spread in its past six in Green Bay.
Chicago Bears
Bears fans were ecstatic that Coach Matt Nagy was fired this offseason in large part because they were so frustrated with an inept offence under him. Things weren’t much better Sunday with just 204 total yards but the Bears did upset the visiting San Francisco 49ers 19-10 in a rainstorm. Justin Fields was 8-for-17 with two TDs and a pick. The defence played very well, especially second-round rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon in the secondary. The offensive line was supposed to be a major weak spot, but Fields was sacked just twice. Rookie third-round receiver Velus Jones, one of the fastest players in this year’s draft, was out with a hamstring injury and is in doubt for Week 2. The Bears are 3-7 ATS in their past 10 road games.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay traded away All-Pro receiver Davante Adams this offseason, and he was clearly missed in the Packers’ 23-7 loss at Minnesota in Week 1. Aaron Rodgers was held to 195 yards passing with a pick, lost fumble and no touchdowns. New No. 1 wideout Allen Lazard missed the game due to injury. First-round rookie linebacker Quay Walker left in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury and is questionable for Chicago. The Packers have scored 40-plus points in each of the last two meetings against the Bears at Lambeau Field, their only time doing so vs. Chicago at home in series history. In six games against the Bears under Coach Matt LaFleur, the Packers have turned the ball over just once while forcing 13 turnovers. Green Bay is 7-2 ATS in its past nine at home.
