Texas Tech vs. Michigan Bracket Prediction: March Madness Sweet 16 Odds

The Wolverines have used their trademark stout defence to open the tournament with a pair of convincing victories. But the Red Raiders are right there with them defensively, and are coming off an impressive 20-point victory over Buffalo.

Texas Tech (3) vs. Michigan (2) NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting

You won’t find many other Sweet 16 games featuring teams this hot from a covers perspective. The slightly-favoured Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their previous five games overall and have successfully covered nine of their past 12 meetings with Big 12 opponents. Texas Tech has been even kinder to spread bettors, coming into Thursday’s third-round matchup having gone 10-2 ATS in its past 12 with seven straight covers against teams above .600.

Under bettors might swallow hard given the predictably low number for this one, but both teams have proven to be strong totals options in recent tournament history. The Wolverines come in having gone below the total in four of their previous five March Madness contests, and five of the past six neutral-site games overall. The Red Raiders have converted the under in nine of their previous 12 NCAA Tournament games, including both so far in 2019.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders will need their best player to be the best player on the court of they hope to reach the Elite Eight. And Jarrett Culver has already proven himself as one of the top players in the tournament through the first two games, averaging 22.5 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two blocks. He has scored 25 or more points in four of his previous eight games coming into Thursday’s matchup, with three double-doubles over that stretch.

Michigan Wolverines

There’s little doubt that the Wolverines are well-positioned to make life difficult for the Texas Tech offence – but how will they score themselves? Fortunately for Michigan, it has three players capable of providing an offensive spark, with Ignas Brazdeikis, Jordan Poole and Charles Matthews all averaging at least 12 points per game. Matthews had 22 points in the Round of 64 win over Montana, while Poole’s 19 points paced Michigan’s win over Florida.
