Colorado St. vs. Texas Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds
It’s more NCAA Tournament Midwest Region action on Thursday night at Spectrum Center in Charlotte. The Longhorns return to the Big Dance looking to build on last year’s impressive run to the Elite Eight, but have work to do after making an early exit from the Big 12 Tournament and losing two of three overall.
The Longhorns enter Thursday’s action pegged as slim 2.5-point favourites on the First Round odds. The Rams are strong +120 underdogs on the March Madness moneyline and the total is listed at 144.5.
Colorado St. vs. Texas NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
Thursday night’s matchup will be the first meeting between these schools since Texas claimed a decisive 63-46 decision way back in December 1952. The Rams closed out the regular season tied for sixth in the Mountain West standings with a 10-8 conference record, but helped punch their ticket to the Big Dance with a 4-1 SU run that ended with a 74-61 loss to New Mexico in the MWC Tournament. With a 9-9 conference record, Texas finished seventh in the Big 12. This team has also struggled to produce consistent results, posting consecutive wins just twice while going 9-10 overall since New Year’s Day, but has seen each of its past six losses coming against nationally ranked opponents.
Colorado St. Rams
Senior big man Joel Scott turned in another strong performance in Tuesday’s win over the Cavs, dropping 23 points and adding 11 rebounds to record his first double-double in nine games. Overall, Scott has averaged 21.5 points over the past two games and has scored at least 20 in three of six outings. Nique Clifford continued to dominate under the bucket with 10 boards to go along with 17 points and has recorded double-doubles in three of six outings.
Texas Longhorns
Max Abmas led the Longhorns this season with 17.1 points and 4.3 assists per game, but has seen big performances wasted in each of the team’s past two losses. In addition to scoring 26 points, four assists, and four boards in last week’s Big 12 Tournament loss to Kansas State, Abmas also scored 33 points in Texas’ 93-85 loss to the No. 11 Baylor Bears on March 4. Senior Dylan Disu led the squad with nine rebounds versus New Mexico, but has seen his scoring tail off, failing to reach double digits in three of six games after topping 20 points in four of his final six February appearances.
