Iowa State vs. Wisconsin Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds
They now meet in the second round on Sunday with a berth in the Sweet 16 on the line. It’s a Midwest Region matchup with a Midwestern flavor in a Midwestern city. The building will be rocking for this one.
Iowa State vs. Wisconsin NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
The Iowa State Cyclones were a 4.5-point underdog to LSU but won outright in their Round of 64 NCAA Tournament game. They are now 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral site games where they’re a dog. For an odd stat, they’re also 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games that are played on a Sunday.
As for the Badgers, they have failed to cover in four straight as a favorite. They are also just 2-7 ATS in their last nine as a favorite in a neutral site affair.
Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State barely scored in the final seven minute of the first half and the first two and a half minutes of the second half, but it managed to regroup and outlast LSU in a grinding, punishing battle where neither team could shoot very consistently. Iowa State has relied on its defense all season long. The Cyclones do go through prolonged dry spells at least once per game. When they went through a bad patch which lasted nearly 10 minutes, their defense kept them afloat. They regrouped on offense late in the game and hit two three-pointers in the final three minutes, which was just enough to drag them over the finish line. Expect this game against Wisconsin to hit the under. The total has been set near 125 points.
Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin beat Colgate even though star player Johnny Davis hit only sightly more than one-third of his shots from the field. Wisconsin allowed seven straight made baskets by Colgate, many of them 3-pointers, in the second half and trailed the Raiders for several consecutive minutes. However, Davis and his Wisconsin teammates eventually ran Colgate’s shooters off the 3-point line, forcing them to dribble into traffic and re-route the ball. Colgate struggled to get good shots after Wisconsin’s adjustment. The Badgers put together enough offense to gain a working margin late in the game. They carried that margin to the finish line and are now in a very good position to make the Sweet 16. Playing in front of home fans in Milwaukee, not too far from the campus in Madison, will be a real plus for the Badgers in this game. Johnny Davis will need to shoot better. Iowa State’s defense is tremendous. This figures to be a close battle all the way.
