Toronto rolled to victories in Chicago, Orlando and Atlanta to regain their perch atop the NBA standings – and they’ll now enjoy a stretch of five home games over their next seven contests.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Raptors are heavy favourites in this one, but bettors should be cautious, as Toronto has run hot and cold as double-digit faves in recent history. After going 1-6 against the spread from January-December 2017, the Raptors reeled off nine consecutive covers when giving 10 or more points before hitting another skid, coming into this one having gone 1-5-1 in their last seven games when giving away 10 or more points.
This game carries a sky-high total of 228, but these teams are both trending toward the over. Washington has gone 5-2 O/U in its last seven games while converting the over in seven of its past nine road games vs. teams with winning home records. Toronto has been just as hot an over play, having exceeded the total in nine of its previous 11 home games while boasting a 10-3 O/U mark in its past 13 games against Eastern Conference opponents.
Washington Wizards
Washington capped a 3-2 homestand with a 125-118 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers last time out – and that triumph was easily the most significant of the season. Not only did the Wizards prevail despite the immense turmoil surrounding the team, but they did so despite trailing by as many as 24 points. The Wizards will be looking to snap a four-game cover drought at Scotiabank Place, and are just 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings.
Toronto Raptors
There isn’t just one reason why the Raptors have climbed to the top of the NBA mountain, but it’s clear that when Kyle Lowry drops dimes, this team wins games. Toronto is a sizzling 9-2 SU and 6-5 ATS when Lowry records 10 or more assists, as he did last time out with a 17-assist performance as part of a triple-double in a 124-108 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Lowry’s 10.5 assists per game lead the NBA.
