After the Golden State Warriors rolled to their most lopsided win of the season with a 138-96 blowout in Chicago on Friday, they’ll head to Minnesota on Sunday night to close out a four-game road trip.  The Timberwolves have been off since Thursday when they dropped a 116-108 decision in Memphis.

The Warriors opened as 3-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 225.0.

Warriors vs. Timberwolves NBA Betting Odds

Golden State has won three of the last four meetings between these teams, including a 123-110 decision on Nov. 10.  Canadian Andrew Wiggins dominated the team that drafted him first overall in 2014, dropping a season-high 35 points for the Warriors.

The Warriors are hoping Friday’s win is a sign they’re breaking out of a slump that saw them lose four of their previous five games.  They’ve paid bettors this year, going 24-16-2 against the spread overall, but they’ve failed to cover in five of their last seven games.  The total has gone Under in four of Golden State’s last six games.

Minnesota has been surprisingly efficient at home against Golden State, winning six of the last seven meetings between these teams at Target Center.  They’re 22-20 ATS for the season, including 11-5 ATS over their last 16 games.  The total has gone Under in four of the Timberwolves’ last five games.

Golden State Warriors

Even without Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in the lineup, the Warriors made it look easy against Chicago.  Rookie Jonathan Kuminga finished with a game-high 25 points and Jordan Poole added 22.  Wiggins scored 20 of his 21 points in the first half, while Steph Curry had 19 for the game.  Golden State’s 78 points at the break was the most they’ve scored in the first half all season.

Curry, who averages a team-high 26.4 points per game, looked noticeably in pain after falling on his right hand in the first half on Friday, although the injury doesn’t look like it will be serious.  After missing two and a half years to ACL and Achilles injuries, Thompson was rested against the Bulls and will play Sunday.  Thompson played 20 minutes against Milwaukee on Thursday and head coach Steve Kerr said he plans to bump Thompson’s minutes up on Sunday.  Green, who leads the team in rebounds (7.6), assists (7.4) and blocks (1.2), will miss his third straight game with left calf tightness.

Minnesota Timberwolves

There wasn’t much Minnesota could do Thursday night against a hot Memphis team that beat the Timberwolves for their 11th straight win.  Anthony Edwards, the first overall pick in 2020, led the way for Minnesota with a game-high 30 points.  D’Angelo Russell added 29 points and six assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points and nine rebounds.  Either Edwards or Towns has led the Timberwolves in scoring in 31 of 42 games this season.  Towns averages team-highs in points per game (24.6), rebounds (9.3) and blocks (1.2).  Edwards averages 22.6 ppg with a team-high 1.6 steals.  Russell is averaging 19.0 ppg and a team-high 7.0 assists.
