Warriors vs. Spurs: Game 4 Prediction, NBA Playoff Odds

The San Antonio Spurs have had no answer for the Golden State Warriors through the first three games of their first round playoff series. After falling behind 0-3, can the Spurs avoid a sweep at home when they play Game 4 versus Golden State on Sunday afternoon? San Antonio threw everything it had at the Warriors but still fell short in a 110-97 loss in Game 3 on Thursday. What will it take for the Spurs to record a win at home and extend the series? Let’s take a closer look at this NBA matchup.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Golden State has won six of seven meetings with San Antonio dating back to the regular season. The Warriors also travelled well throughout the regular season with a 30-12 record on the road.

Meanwhile, the Spurs led the NBA with 33 wins on their home floor in the regular season but that doesn’t mean anything at this time of the year. They are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games when trailing in a playoff series. They’re also 6-21 SU and 11-15 ATS as a dog this year, which doesn’t bode well.

Golden State Warriors

The fact that Golden State has been so dominant in this series is even more impressive when you consider they have been without two-time MVP Stephen Curry. The Warriors star power has allowed them to rest Curry as he continues to prepare for another championship run. Kevin Durant led the way once again in Game 3 with 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Durant has stepped up as Golden State’s best player in the series but he hasn’t had to do it all on his own.

Klay Thompson added 19 points including three three-point shots in Game 3. Draymond Green added 10 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four blocked shots. And that’s really been the difference: the Warriors have three stars while the Spurs only have LaMarcus Aldridge.

The Warriors struggled from beyond the arc to open Game 3 when they made just 1-of-14 three-point shots but still hit 10-of-32 three-ball attempts and won by 13 points. That tells you how this series has gone.

San Antonio Spurs

The fact that the Spurs delivered their best defensive effort of the series on their home floor and still lost by 13 points is definitely a troubling sign. San Antonio is without its biggest star Kawhi Leonard and that’s not something they’ve been able overcome. On top of that, they were without head coach Gregg Popovich in Game 3 and could be again for Game 4. As much as the Spurs will be playing with pride at home and with heavy hearts following the passing of Popovich’s wife, they simply don’t have the weapons to keep up with Golden State. Unless Rudy Gay, Patty Mills and Dejounte Murray can miraculously show up for Game 4 and all have notable contributions, this series is over.
