The Raptors return to Scotiabank Arena tonight on a five-game skid and as 5.5-point underdogs on the NBA odds against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in their lone visit of the season.

Warriors vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

If you want to “blame” one player for the proliferation of 3-point shooting in the NBA these days, then blame Warriors legend, former two-time league MVP and future first-ballot Hall of Famer Steph Curry. His long-distance prowess has changed the league probably more than what any single player has done in terms of overall style since Michael Jordan.

The United States does not win Olympic gold this summer in the Paris Olympics in men’s basketball without Curry. He’s still playing at an All-Star level in averaging 22.6 points and 4.4 made 3-pointers per game, but Curry isn’t quite the dominant force he used to be soon-to-be age 37 (in March). Curry has led the Dubs to four titles, but that championship window is likely closed with the current group. It’s no sure thing Golden State even reaches the play-in tournament in the deep Western Conference.

Monday is the first of two meetings between the franchises with Toronto in San Francisco on March 19. They split last season, each winning on the road. Golden State leads 33-21 all-time and 14-13 as the road team. Curry averaged only 17.0 points in the two games last season. Toronto is 4-6 ATS in the past 10 meetings.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State is 1-1 on this four-game road trip after a 108-96 loss at Indiana on Friday. Not a huge shock the Warriors lost there as they were without All-Stars Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Toronto native Andrew Wiggins. Curry and Wiggins are off the injury report for tonight and Green is expected to play. Curry has scored 24,345 career points, 23 shy of tying Hall of Fame guard Allen Iverson (24,368), ranked 28th on the all-time list.

Still out, though, are guards Brandon Podziemski and Gary Payton and very promising young forward Jonathan Kuminga. If the Warriors are going to make a major trade before next month’s deadline, it’s probably going to cost them Kuminga. They did make one deal last month, acquiring former Raptors guard Dennis Schroder from Brooklyn, but that’s not really a needle-moving trade.

Expect a close game as Golden State has 23 clutch games this season, the second-most in the league. Those are when the score is within five in the final five minutes of the game. The Warriors are 11-12 in those. They are 3-8 ATS in their past 11 games overall.

Toronto Raptors

We projected the Dinos to lose by five in Detroit on Saturday, and they lost 123-114 for a fifth straight defeat to conclude a three-game trip. An Immanuel Quickley jumper tied the game at 109 with five minutes left, but some missed Raptors free throws opened the door for the Pistons to take control. Quickley led seven players in double-figure points with 25 but was minus-24.

Chris Boucher scored 14 points off the bench and is averaging 15.7 points, while shooting 75 per cent from the field over his past three. Rookie Jamal Shead was in double digits for a second straight game with 10 points while adding five assists. He ranks fourth among rookies is assists per game (3.5).

Toronto, which is finally fully healthy, is 0-21 this season when shooting a worse percentage from the floor than its opponent after Detroit hit 52.4 per cent overall. The Raptors are 2-8 ATS in their past 10.
