The Dubs are large favourites to win a fourth straight NBA championship while the Nuggets are hoping to secure their first playoff berth since 2013.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Golden State is coming off a narrow win at Dallas on Sunday night and the club is now 6-1 straight up in its last seven games. At 29-14, the Warriors are just a half game back of the Nuggets for first place in the West.
Public bettors like backing the best teams in the league and oddsmakers have been making it difficult to cash ATS tickets with G-State this season. The Warriors are among the league’s worst bets against the spread with an 18-25 ATS mark.
Total bettors are keeping a close eye on the Dubs’ recent hot streak. The Over is 5-1 in their last six games and 23-20 on the season.
The Nuggets are 8-2 SU but just 4-6 ATS over their last 10 games. The team is coming off a three-point win over the Portland Trail Blazers as a 4.5-point home favourite. Denver is 7-2-1 against the number in its last 10 meetings with the Warriors.
Home court could be a big factor in this matchup. The Nuggets are 18-3 SU and 14-7 ATS on their floor while the Warriors are just 12-8 SU and 8-12 ATS on the road this season.
Golden State Warriors
On a team full of All-Stars, Stephen Curry is the Warrior of the moment. The two-time NBA MVP winner is averaging 33.4 points, 7.0 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 6.8 made 3-pointers per game this month. He’s coming off a 48-point performance against the Mavericks in which he drained 11 of his 19 attempts from deep.
Curry’s backcourt mate is starting to heat up too. Klay Thompson had been mired in a prolonged shooting slump for the majority of the campaign but he’s averaging 27 points per game in January while shooting better than 40 percent from 3-point land.
Denver Nuggets
The focal point of the Nuggets’ attack begins in the middle with their big man. Nikola Jokic is coming off a 40-point outburst against the Trail Blazers and he’s already produced three triple-doubles in his last eight games.
Canadian basketball fans know all about Jokic’s partner in crime in Denver. Nuggets shooting guard and Kitchener Ontario native Jamal Murray is second on the club in scoring at 18.5 points per game.
