Warriors vs. Lakers Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread
The NBA’s Sunday prime time schedule will see two of this generations best players go head-to-head. Steph Curry is leading the Golden State Warriors into L.A. to face LeBron James and the Lakers.
L.A. opened as 4-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 224.5.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Warriors like playing in L.A. Golden State is 6-1 straight up in their last seven games in the City of Angels and 11-4 straight up in their last 15 games against the Lakers overall. For the season the Warriors are 18-16 against the spread and they have hit the Over in 15 of 34 games.
L.A. has struggled to cover the spread at home, only managing to cover in six of 17 games at the Staples Center. The Lakers are 15-19 ATS overall. L.A. hasn’t been great at hitting the Over this year as they’ve only done so in 13 of 34 games, however, 10 of those Over games came at home.
Golden State Warriors
This isn’t the Golden State Warriors of the recent past, but it’s still a dangerous team. It was a tough start to the season for Golden State, but they seem to have figured things out. The Warriors 130-121 win over Charlotte on Friday marked their first three game win streak of the season. Draymond Green had a breakout game against the Hornets and recorded a triple-double. Green finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high 19 assists. The big turnaround for the Warriors is coming from the supporting cast. After starting the season 7-of-51 from the 3-point line, Kelly Oubre Jr. is now shooting nearly 40 per cent from deep since.
There’s no success for the Warriors if Steph Curry doesn’t carry most of the load. Curry had a game-high 29 points on Friday and he’s the second leading scorer in the NBA, averaging 29.9 points per game. If anyone has forgotten about how good Curry is, he’s forcing them to notice him now. Curry is actually averaging more points per game than his unanimous MVP season in 2015-16. It looks like the only healthy Splash Brother is well on his way to a third career MVP.
Los Angeles Lakers
Things are starting to look up for the Lakers again after they snapped a four game losing streak by taking down Portland 102-93 on Friday. L.A. has been struggling without Anthony Davis, who hasn’t played since February 14 due to a strained right calf. Davis is expected to miss up to another month and the Lakers have dropped four of six games without him in the lineup, but they were boosted on Friday with the return of Dennis Schroder. L.A. lost all four games Schroder was forced to miss because of health and safety protocols. Schroder didn’t miss a beat in his return, scoring 22 points. The Lakers are now 0-4 without Schroder in the lineup and 23-7 when he’s on the court.
It’s nothing new for LeBron James to carry the biggest offensive burden for his team, but with Davis likely out for another month, 36-year-old James won’t get much relief anytime soon. On Friday James finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists and his 36 minutes on the court were the most of any Lakers player. James likes the big stage and it doesn’t get much bigger than LeBron vs. Curry at the Staples Center. Look for James to have a big night.
