Trail Blazers vs. Warriors Point Spread: NBA Odds, Prediction

Damian Lillard figures to be really, really fired up for this one because it’s his last game in Oakland barring a Blazers-Warriors playoff matchup. May want to consider taking an over prop bet on him points-wise for the game at Sports Interaction.  Which Golden State Warriors show up Thursday night when they host Portland? The usually great Dubs come off a much-hyped and hugely disappointing home result vs. the Lakers on Christmas.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

On Nov. 23, Portland was a 1.5-point underdog at Golden State and lost 125-97. The Warriors, who entered on a very rare four-game losing streak (first since early 2013), got 32 points from Kevin Durant and 31 from Klay Thompson. Golden State wasn’t favoured by more because both Steph Curry and Draymond Green were out. Lillard had 23 points and eight assists but struggled from the field in shooting 9-for-24.

Golden State has won eight straight at home in the series – the clubs turn around and play in Portland on Saturday.

The favorite is 5-2 ATS in the past seven meetings.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers were blown out by the Jazz for the second time in less than a week Tuesday, this time 117-96 in Utah on Christmas Night. Portland shot just 39.6 per cent overall and had 10 shots blocked. Lillard often struggles in Salt Lake City and was just OK with 20 points one 9-for-21 shooting while not attempting a single free throw. Backcourt mate C.J. McCollum was held to 11 points and centre Jusuf Nurkic seven while battling foul trouble and Utah star counterpart Rudy Gobert. Portland is now 1-8 ATS in its past nine road games.

Golden State Warriors

One of the most surprising results of the season had to be the Warriors’ 127-101 home loss to the Lakers as 10-point home favourites on Christmas – especially considering LeBron James left in the third quarter with a groin injury. We’ve seen each member of the Warriors’ Big 3 – Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant — have a 50-point game in their careers, but they combined for just 41 vs. the Lakers. Curry hit only 5-for-17 from the field, while Thompson was 2-for-7 for five points.

The 26-point loss was the team’s third-worst ever at home under Coach Steve Kerr. The Warriors have been in four straight NBA Finals so there will be times they are bored this season. Christmas Day against LeBron wasn’t supposed to be one of those. Golden State is 2-12 ATS in its past 14 vs. the West.
