Raptors vs Warriors Summer League Betting Analysis
Betters may not be able to put much faith in the Raptors on the moneyline this summer, but against the spread there is some reason for optimism. After starting the Vegas campaign 0-2, Toronto has pulled back and evened their record ATS to 2-2.
As for the Warriors, they opened the Summer League with a win, but have since suffered defeat four games in a row.
Toronto Raptors
Against the Brooklyn Nets Toronto almost pulled off a reversal of what happened to them earlier in the week against the Pistons when a commanding second-half lead melted away into defeat.
Gradey Dick was not in the lineup Thursday (coach’s decision), but one shouldn’t read too much into it. He’s a 13th overall pick and will have his time to shine in the Torontonian spotlight. The club most likely wanted to see what it had without him playing. It didn’t look great for long stretches, as Brooklyn, led by Jalen Wilson and David Duke Jr., continued its summer tear. They led by 16 in the third quarter before Joe Wieskamp (18 points) and Ron Harper Jr. (19 points) helped the Dinos pull back. There was fight and more hustle in the Raptors than we had witnessed before.
The contest was pushed to an extra session where, unfortunately for Toronto, Brooklyn managed to reach the 98-point mark set by Summer League overtime rules, sealing a 99-94 defeat.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are having nearly as tough a time this summer as their opponents this Saturday, save for the fact that they opened their campaign with a victory. Thursday’s bout with the young Rockets was deceptively close for a while until things unravelled.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with Houston leading only by one point at the buzzer. It was the second period that proved fatal for Golden State, as they were pounded 37-20 and never found a way to fight their way back into the match except for making the third and final quarters competitive. First-round pick Brandin Podziemski tallied 10 points but was a minus 9. Kendric Davis led the way with 18 points, and both Gui Santos and Trayce Jackson-Davis netted 14.
Had the second period not been a total disaster, Golden State would have had a decent shot at winning the game. Be that as it may, the Rockets still took it by the convincing final score of 118-101.
