Suns vs. Mavericks NBA Betting Odds

There might be six future Hall of Famers on the court Friday, assuming everyone plays, in Phoenix’s Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, and Dallas’ Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson. The only one of those six who might be iffy for the Hall is Beal. Of course, Durant and Irving are former teammates from the Brooklyn Nets who both forced trades in recent years to contenders and remain friends. It would surprise no one if they ended up on the same team again down the road.

Last season, the Mavericks won two of three in the series. They will meet four times this regular season and played Oct. 26 in Phoenix with the Suns prevailing 114-102 as 3.5-point underdogs. They never trailed after the first quarter despite missing Beal and excellent sixth man Grayson Allen due to injury. Durant had 31 points and Booker 21. That Dallas Big 3 we mentioned combined for 81 points – Doncic had 40 — but obviously got little help. Doncic averages 28.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 20 career regular-season games against Phoenix.

Phoenix is 6-4 in the past 10 regular-season meetings but 4-6 ATS. The under has hit in four straight.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns have won six straight since their lone loss of the season on Oct. 25 at the Lakers. They concluded a three-game homestand with a 115-112 win over Miami on Wednesday behind 32 points from Kevin Durant, his second straight 30-point game and fifth already this season. At age 36, Durant isn’t slowing down as he’s among the league leaders in scoring at 27.8 PPG (would set a franchise record) while shooting 55.1 per cent from the field, which is stellar for largely a jump-shooter.

Devin Booker added 22 points and nine assists Wednesday, but he has been a bit off over the past three games in hitting 17.4 per cent from deep. In fact, Booker has shot 50 per cent or better from the field overall only three times.

Centre Jusuf Nurkic is a big part of Phoenix’s early success with his rebounding as he had 18 boards Wednesday, his third straight with at least 15.

Rookie guard Ryan Dunn sprained his ankle in the win but his playing time goes down when Bradley Beal is healthy, which he is for now. The 2024 first-round pick out of Virginia, Dunn has played in all eight games and is averaging 6.8 points per game on 35.5 per cent shooting from beyond the arc while playing good defence.

The Suns are 2-10 ATS in their past 12 games.

Dallas Mavericks

Dallas routed visiting Chicago 119-99 on Wednesday, and this concludes a five-game homestand on which the Mavs are 2-2. They led by as many 30 against the Bulls, so none of the team’s stars had to play heavy minutes. Luka Doncic, among the MVP betting favourites per usual, played the most and had 27 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds, while Kyrie Irving had 17 points and six rebounds in 32 minutes. Doncic’s next triple-double would be No. 78 career, which would tie James Harden and Wilt Chamberlain for the seventh-most in league history.

Dallas played without starting forward P.J. Washington because of a right knee sprain and without backup centre Dereck Lively II because of a right shoulder sprain. Both are day-to-day.

Naji Marshall stepped into the starting lineup for Washington and had eight points and two rebounds in 21 minutes. Canadian big man Dwight Powell barely plays these days but did get a season-high 20 minutes Wednesday in the blowout and with Dallas short-handed.

The under is 4-1 in the Mavs’ past five at home.
