Two of the top teams in the NBA are looking to get back in the win column when they face each other on Monday night.  After an embarrassing 111-86 loss to a Spurs team missing multiple starters on Saturday, the Phoenix Suns are headed to Milwaukee to play a Bucks team coming off a 128-115 loss to Memphis.

The Bucks are 3-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 233.5.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The only other meeting between these teams this season proved to be a tight finish.  Phoenix took a 125-124 decision at home in February, despite Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s 47-point performance.

The Suns come into this game as one of the best teams in the Western Conference.  They’re 11-2 straight up over their last 13 games overall and have won four of their last five meetings with Milwaukee.  Phoenix is 35-31 against the spread this season, but they’ve only covered in two of their last six games.  They’ve hit the Over in eight of their last 11 games.

Milwaukee is much more comfortable at home this season, posting an 18-9 record at Fiserv Forum.  The Bucks haven’t been a great cover option with a 25-31 record ATS and they’ve failed to cover in five straight home games.  They’ve hit the Over in four of their last five games against Western Conference opponents.

Phoenix Suns

Despite a 25-point loss to a San Antonio team missing multiple starters, there were some positives for Phoenix on Saturday.  Jevon Carter continued his strong run of games with a team-high 17 points off the bench.  Carter has averaged 13 points per game over his last five outings.  Devin Booker also had a strong game, finishing with 15 points, while Deandre Ayton had nine rebounds.  Health shouldn’t be much of an issue against Milwaukee.  The Suns have no major injury concerns and Abdel Nader is the only player ruled out against the Bucks.

Booker is going to need to be a big factor in this game if Phoenix pulls out the W.  Outside of Saturday, he’s been piling up buckets and is averaging 25 points per game over his last 10 appearances.  The Suns rely more on a team game than single individuals putting up 30+ points per night, so the combination of Booker and Chris Paul has been huge for them this season.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks have been fairly average lately, going 3-2 over their last five games.  Their defensive weaknesses were exposed in the loss to Memphis on Saturday, but with Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton on the roster, Milwaukee has three of the best two-way players in the game.  Antetokounmpo was two assists shy of a triple-double on Saturday, finishing with 28 points (game-high), 11 rebounds (game-high) and eight assists.  Both coming off the bench, Holiday put up 17 points and seven assists, while Middleton had 16 points and 10 assists.

Antetokounmpo will always be the big name on this team and he looks back in top form after recently returning from a knee injury.  As the season winds down, the Greek Freak’s name will likely pop up in the MVP debate, but with only Brooklyn and Philadelphia ahead of the Bucks in the standings, he’ll be more focused on playoff position than anything else.
