The Raptors look to complete a somewhat unlikely perfect three-game road trip Wednesday night as they visit All-Star Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards.

Washington opened as favourites to win on the NBA odds.

Raptors vs. Wizards NBA Betting Odds

Wednesday is the second of four regular-season meetings between the teams. Toronto will return to Washington, D.C. on Jan. 21.

In the season opener, the Raptors were 2.5-point home favourites against the Wizards but lost 98-83 as Bradley Beal led Washington with 23 points and Montrezl Harrell added 22 off the bench. The Wizards shot just 5-for-27 from deep but led by as many as 29 points to give coach Wes Unseld Jr. a victory in his first game. No Toronto player had more than 12 points and the Dinos shot 30.9 per cent overall and 7-for-34 from three-point range.

The Raptors lead the all-time series 56-39 but are 22-23 as the road team despite winning the past four away. Toronto is 4-5-1 against the spread in the past 10 overall.

Toronto Raptors

This writer didn’t see the Raptors winning at the Knicks on Monday regardless and definitely didn’t see it when rookie sensation Scottie Barnes was surprisingly ruled out with a sprained thumb. However, Toronto pulled off a 113-104 upset, its fourth straight win. The third quarter was the difference as the Raptors outscored the Knicks 38-22. Svi Mykhailiuk started in place of Barnes and had 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. OG Anunoby had a career-high 36 points. Gary Trent Jr. added 26. Khem Birch started the second half over a struggling Precious Achiuwa at centre and the Raptors outscored the Knicks by 20 with Birch in the game. Perhaps he has earned the starting job going forward. The injury to Barnes (18.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg) is not serious and there’s a realistic chance he returns Wednesday, although the team obviously won’t risk any long-term injury.

Washington Wizards

Washington was beaten 118-111 in Atlanta on Monday as a three-game winning streak ended. Bradley Beal had 24 points but no one else more than 14. There was good and bad injury news. Big man Daniel Gafford returned after missing a few games injured and had four points, five rebounds and three blocks. The Wizards already without one of their other centres, Thomas Bryant, who continues to rehab from ACL surgery. Reserve and three-point specialist Davis Bertans left with a sprained ankle. Washington is one of the better offensive teams in the league in averaging 112.4 ppg and well on track to average at least 110.0 for a fourth straight season. Not a great defensive team, though. The Wizards are 6-4 ATS in their past 10 as home favourites.
