Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons Spread: NBA Odds, Prediction
Stan Van Gundy’s time in Detroit could be nearing its end if the Pistons fail to reach the playoffs after trading for NBA superstar Blake Griffin. Things don’t get any easier for the Pistons head coach when the red-hot Toronto Raptors come to Motown on Wednesday night.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Toronto clipped the Atlanta Hawks last night at the ACC and pushed its season record to 46-17 straight up and 36-27 against the spread. The Raptors are 12-1 SU and 10-3 ATS over their last 13 games and lead the Eastern Conference standings by two games over the second-place Boston Celtics.
The Dinos are 2-0 SU against the Pistons this season including a 123-94 blowout victory in Toronto two weeks ago.
Detroit is riding a three-game losing streak and is 3-18 ATS over its last 21 games. The Pistons are 4.5 games back of the Miami Heat for the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference and they head out on a six-game, road trip next week.
More than 90 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are backing the Raptors to cover as 5.5-point road favorites against the Pistons.
Toronto Raptors
Toronto’s bench mob took a hit when Delon Wright left last night’s game with a sprained big toe. He’s a long and versatile defender who is as comfortable guarding point guards as he is small forwards. Fred VanVleet got extra minutes in Wright’s absence but his shot deserted him against the Hawks. The normally accurate shooter went 1-of-7 from the field in 29 minutes of action.
Dwane Casey was able to rest his starters for most of the fourth quarter which means DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry should be relatively fresh playing the next day. The Raptors are 5-4 SU and ATS playing on the second night of a back-to-back set.
Detroit Pistons
Van Gundy is telling reporters the Pistons need to start winning games right now if they have any shot of making the playoffs. The trade for Blake Griffin was supposed to give them that push they needed to climb up the standings but that hasn’t been the case. Detroit was four games out of the final playoff position at the time of the trade and it is 4.5 games out entering Wednesday’s game.
