The Raptors are no longer atop the Eastern Conference and they’re in danger of losing a third straight game when they visit Dallas to play super rookie Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.
The Mavs are one of the best home bets in the NBA and they are seeking their fourth straight cover against Toronto.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Dinos are coming off a two-point loss to James Harden and the Houston Rockets on Friday night. Toronto is now 2-9 against the spread in its last 11 road games and 23-28 ATS overall this season.
The Raps trail the Milwaukee Bucks in the East standings and they’re tied in the loss column with the Indiana Pacers at 15. Sports Interaction still lists the Drakes as the favourites to win the East at +175. The Boston Celtics (+240), Milwaukee Bucks (+350) and Philadelphia 76ers (+425) are all close behind on the odds leaderboard.
Dallas downed the Pistons 106-101 on Friday night but the club failed to cover as 5-point chalk. The Mavericks are still 4-2-1 against the number in their last seven games. The Mavs best betting trend of late is on the total. The Under is 10-2 in Dallas’ last 12 games and 26-22 on the season.
The Mavericks are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 home dates and the Under is a perfect 8-0 in their last eight contests against Eastern Conference foes.
Kawhi Leonard is heading to the All-Star Game as a starter for the East in his first season with the Raptors. The question is if any of his new teammates will be joining him for the exhibition game.
Kyle Lowry is a four-time All-Star but his case to make the team this season is considerably weaker. He’s fourth on his own team in scoring (14.1 points per game) and he’s shooting just 31.6 percent on his 3-point attempts.
Pascal Siakam is the other Raptor who will get some consideration for one of the final reserve spots – especially now that All-Star shoe-in Victor Oladipo is out for the year. Siakam is averaging 15.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game and he’s coming off a 22-point and 12-rebound performance against the Rockets.
Mavs nation is in love with Luka Doncic. The defending Euro League MVP is averaging 21.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game this month. Dallas is closely monitoring how Doncic meshes with Dennis Smith Jr. – the high first round draft pick from the 2017 NBA Draft.
Smith possesses elite athletic ability at the point guard position but he doesn’t seem as comfortable playing off guard while the offence runs through Doncic.
