The Toronto Raptors’ pursuit of the No. 2 seed in the East is nearly complete. The reigning NBA champs can lock up second billing in the conference with a win over Wednesday against the Orlando Magic along with a Celtics loss.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Dinos improved to 2-0 straight up and against the spread since the NBA restart. They’re now 37-28-1 against the number and 48-18 SU on the campaign. The club is coming off wins over the Los Angeles Lakers and most recently the Miami Heat on Monday afternoon.

The Raptors winning run is an odd contrast with what’s going on with the East’s top side. The Milwaukee Bucks have lost five of their last six games and two of three since the restart. The Bucks’ slide has dropped Milwaukee’s lead over the Raptors to just five games.

If this were a full season, Nick Nurse’s crew might have had a fighting chance of finishing first in the East and topping the franchise’s win total from last season.

The Magic’s win streak went up in smoke following their setback against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. Orlando is still 8-2 against the spread over its last 10 games dating back to the end of February.

Orlando possesses the most glaring trend in this matchup – maybe even across the Association. The Magic have played Over the total in 15 straight contests.

The Drakes won and covered in all three of the previous matchups against the Magic this season, but the last meeting was all the way back in November of last year. It’s been a long, long season. The NBA odds board had the Raps at -6 at the open.

Toronto Raptors

Another game, another standout performance from a Raptor role player. Point guard Fred VanVleet finished with season-high 36 points thanks in large part to his 7-for-12 shooting from beyond the arc.

The undrafted free agent was set for a significant payday this offseason. But the economic impact of COVID-19 is expected to drastically cut into the NBA salary cap. That means fewer teams will have cap space to splash on VanVleet.

Orlando Magic

The Magic received some tough news earlier this week when it was discovered the third-year forward Jonathan Isaac tore his ACL during Sunday’s win over the Sacramento Kings. He’s not the focal part of the team’s offence, but he’s an important role player who’ll be missed – particularly at the defensive end.
